Default RIP Polo

Tragic on so many levels. This is the 3rd player A&M has had die in traffic accidents in 3 years.

Texas A&M lineman Polo Manukainiu dies in rollover crash

Quote:
CUBA, New Mexico -- Texas A&M said Tuesday that Polo Manukainiu, a 19-year-old redshirt freshman for the Aggies, was among three people killed in a single-car rollover crash in the high desert of northern New Mexico.
Also killed where 18-year-old Utah recruit Gaius "Keio" Vaenuku and 13-year-old Andrew "Lolo" Uhatafe. The three victims were cousins.
The wreck happened Monday evening on U.S. 550 near Cuba, N.M., about 85 miles north of Albuquerque, as the group of five was returning from Salt Lake City to suburban Dallas, where three of them had ties to prep football power Trinity High School in Euless.
The southbound 2002 Toyota Sequoia drifted off the sagebrush-lined highway, New Mexico State Police spokesman Emmanuel T. Gutierrez said. The driver, 18-year-old Siaosi Salesi Uhatafe Jr. of Euless, over-corrected, causing the vehicle to lose control and roll several times. Alcohol wasnít involved and it appeared the driver was the only one wearing a seatbelt, investigators said.
Manukainiu and Andrew Uhatafe died at the scene after they were ejected from the vehicle, Gutierrez said. Vaenuku was pronounced dead in an ambulance that responded to the accident.
The driver and his father, Salesi Uhatafe, were taken to the San Juan Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., and suffered only minor injuries, authorities said. Siaosi Uhatafe was a stepbrother of Manukainiu and, like Vaenuku, also is a Utah recruit.
Manukainiu had apparently traveled to Salt Lake City for some relaxation, tweeting Sunday: "Itís always good to get away from the Texas Heat for the weekend. Utah got that breezeeeeeee."
On Monday, hours before the accident, he tweeted: "22 hour drive back to Texas on no sleep. Oh my."

That's really sad. Not sure why tragedy is following around the A&M football team right now. Too many young kids losing the greatest gift we can ever be given: another breath.

RIP Polo.

That's sad to hear. Thoughts and prayers for all involved.

I don't know anything about him as a player, but I play NCAA 14 and I have a Dynasty with A&M. I always noticed him on there because his name stands out so much. Will be hard to play that now and not think about this tragedy.

I feel awful for the parents of these guys....Man...Life is so fragile...

Very sad indeed.

I did hear yesterday on the radio that he or one of the people with him tweeted that they were headed back to College Station being really tired or without sleep (or something to that effect).

I know someone who was a friend of Polo's. She's absolutely heartbroken. It's tragic to hear about this. I was close to where Polo crashed a day before he did. It's so sad. That road isn't safe at all sometimes. RIP Polo.

I just traveled this road myself on my trip to Telluride, can't say it seems all that dangerous. I have surely driven worse roads in east texas. Sad to hear though.

Yeah, I think I misread and I was thinking of a different road near Albuquerque. I have heard that he tweeted that he was about to drive without getting very much sleep. Still, it's awful. I feel for his family and friends.
