To try to simplify the explanation as much as possible. The most likely scenario is that when you have a severe MCL/PCL strain/tear, you have some significant unnatural sliding of the joint surfaces at the time of trauma and subsequently due a period of joint instability, which can lead to breaking off of small particles of the apposing joint cartilage surfaces. These particles float around in the joint (much like medial meniscus injuries) and intermittently get stuck in and grind away at the joint surfaces, thus propagating inflammation and pain. The more vigorous movement (likely accelerated at minicamp), the more inflammation and the more pain. Until a "clean up" is performed, the chain of events are unlikely to cease..........in fact, they would be expected to worsen, despite intermittent periods of rest. That's my best shot at what's going on. |

Generally, what is the prognosis after this sort of cleanup? /doesn't trust information coming from Texans given Domanick Davis/Williams, Ahman Green, and Andre Johnson being "week to week" last year, so I'd like to find out other info.

I'm not to bothered by this. I was never a big fan of OTAs in the first place, as (I believe Jamie Dukes mentioned this on NFLN either yesterday or the day before) they are essentially running full speed drills with no pads. They are fairly dangerous and they are certainly less important to the success of the team than the health of its best player. Get well soon A.J., and come out kicking ass!

Exactly. Also there could be irregularities in the joint cartilate surfaces still attached, caused by the original trauma which may need to be smoothed down in order that further abrasive damage does not occur.
