It's a simple rule and one--attack the post not the poster. Bob McNair isn't a MB member. Folks can criticize him and if they go over the top they make themselves look like an ass. People are free here or there to point out them going over the top but you can't attack the poster directly.

Thanks, man. It's the regulars that have kept me coming here for years, too. Which is why I hate a losing product bringing out the worst in some folks and driving quality posting away. I've seen a tendency for posters to start attacking each other when we lose, and it's a mindset that has started to become engrained into a few Texans fans...I guess frustration and a lack of hope will do that to some folks.

But we can't let the monkeys flinging poo take over, so we have to forge ahead and keep hope alive. The team will get over the hump one day, so we just have to be patient and try to enjoy each others' company for the ride.

The Texans FO places very strict guidelines on what behavior they will and will not allow on the official forum. After all, they are an NFL team, so anything they fund can directly reflect back on the organization. Many official forums for other teams have been shut down because of loose or no moderation. It's a privilege the Texans offer with a forum and not a right.

That's why you can have the same admins and mods for the official board and Texans Talk and they have completely different atmospheres. This is a private board, owned by an individual, so there is no corporate structure to dictate policy.

The problem with the official board is that the FO underestimated the forum's value to fans. They screwed up a good thing, the quality members left, so no standards have been established by long time members for peer review and pressure to keep noobs and trolls in line. It's basically a romper-room over there now, and quality thought gets trampled by the rush of poo flingers.

When the Fire McNair post was made.. it was insulting to both Bob McNair..and all of the Texans fans that are forced to be associated with the poster.

Grid, when you were emailed I stated that your account was timed out for a week. That isn't a permanent ban. I've timed out hundreds of fans for the same stuff over the years and that is not your first one either (first time offenders get timed out for a day or two).

For the record, there are only 15 accounts out of THOUSANDS of user accounts that are banned permanently - 15 (and some of those 15 are pornography spammers). It's not often that we ban anyone on any sort of permanent basis. You have to either be belligerent or chronic to get a permanent banning if you are a regular. DB's post above is an excellent one.

No kidding here I have seen some people who instead of talking a a player or coaches abaility they just say he scuks, he is a dumbass, or he is a sorry excuse of a human being. When what they really ment to say is that I think his coaching style is wrong and his playing lacks imagination or for the player, due could not find his way out of a wet paper bag and he is slower than my Grandma in a scootaround.

Now of course I have had a few of my post deleted because of getting irratated with a player, coach and or a poster and deservidly so. I am not saying I am not without fault in these areas. It is good that the mods have done such a wonderful job that is not easy to do.

I think I got in trouble on the "official site" for using the term "m0therf#¢ker" and again for using the term "muff-hugga" because apparently (and I had no IDEA that this was the case
) when you say the latter, it sounds like the first. Fortunately I was guided here where I've been a pain in the @ss to the bulk of the posters here ever since. Mind you after one diatribe too many about Faggins' "coverage" I was mysteriously abducted, blindfolded, rolled up in a carpet, beaten with cricket bats and thrown off a small bridge into shallow water...but I wasn't banned.
