I am green at this so I need some advice. I am buying a PSL from an individual. My question is when should I pay him? I dont want to give someone money before I get the license- and possibly get ripped off. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Rookie |

No truly safe way to do it.
First, call the Texans and verify that your seller owns the seats. Then, have him completely fill out the transfer form. I would advise you give him half the money when you get the form, and half the money when the transfer goes through. |

Or you could let me buy it....just kidding (sort of), I would go with Yankee's suggestion.

I agree with Yankee, but the only thing different I did was that I also called the Texans a second time after the seller made the transfer request to make sure that they actually had the request filled out with me as the new owner on it before I signed.

when I've bought PSL's, I have the seller request the request, fill out his part(s), then I put my name on it and mail it in. |

Good advice above.
I bought some more PSLs last offseason, but it was the guys next to my seats and we had talked about it for several seasons already. Those guys are legit. Nevertheless, I took precautions and the Texans were very helpful in the paperwork and working with me to make sure everything was in order on the transaction before payment was made. Call the Texans office, there is a person that handles these type of transactions. Make sure the paperwork is in order before you pay. They will understand your concerns as the buyer. |

I bought my second set of psl seats last year. The best thing to do is go to the Texans website for info or better, just call the Texans offices at 832-667-2002 and ask the people that would know it all. Thats what I did to be safe and make the transaction smooth.

it would be nice to have all the paperwork finalized and in the Texans' hands, but most sellers are gonna' demand money before you get to that point. That's why I suggested splitting the transaction into two payments. |

I appreciate all the advice as well as I am on the look out for some PSL's.....I'll see how it goes, hopefully I can find a pretty fair deal or I will end up with nosebleeds. I don't know how much I am going to be able to spend yet.

Network with Texan fans if you can, you probably will find a motivated buyer. My opinion, paying a bit of a premium on some seats is advisable. The higher you get up though, there probably shouldn't be a premium, if any. |

Is there anyway to know what the PSL's sold for at face value. I see a lot people on Ebay and the like say: "These PSL's are basically face value" and they are asking between 4-5K for 2 seats that are between the 30's. I would like to know how much mark up these guys are charging.

I am not sure about the others but that is where it starts on the lower level. The Texans office probably can give you that info. They have always been very helpful when I call about anything. Yankee probably knows all that stuff too. |

Here's an example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Houston-Texans-P...QQcmdZViewItem Now, IMHO these are good seats, I would love to have these seats, but if the PSL's are 5K.....for this area then that is more than I expected. LOL...I better start doing better trading stock options so I can afford seats even close to this.

GENERAL rule of thumb for "face value" of PSL's is a little over the season ticket cost for that seat. |

To me, that is very reasonable, i would jump all over that, so the mark up is 400-500%. http://cgi.ebay.com/3-Houston-Texans...QQcmdZViewItem

bad - WAY overpriced; I bought mine after 2-14 and paid about 250% markup good - the only way to get seats in some sections (outside lucky timing and networking) |

yeah, I agree, I know ebay is way overpriced, but just using it as an example here.......I plan on being patient and hope some networking and luck come along.
