For those who might actually be interested, I just dropped off to Carr jerseys at my local monogram shop. These are the sewn jerseys and the shop has assured me that they can replace the nameplates with new Schaub nameplates thus saving me the expense of having to replace the entire jersey.
Estimated time to get them back is about two weeks which, considering how insignificant the work really is in the big scheme of things, didn't seem that bad to me. Once I get them back, I'll try to post some pics of how they turned out. Also, if anyone wants to use these folks without waiting to see how the guinea pigs turn out, their contact information is as follows: Nafco Monogramming 337-855-8353 177 Hwy 171 N Lake Charles, LA 70611

Interesting. What is the cost? Did you have to supply the nameplate?

She's building the nameplates from scratch with twill lettering and dazzle fabric. Turnaround time may be shorter if another shop here in town has some of the dazzle in stock - two weeks if they don't have it and she has to order it.
Cost should be about $20-25 to modify each jersey. Basically I'll take two Carr jerseys and turn them into two Schaub jerseys for less than the cost of one new Schaub. Yeah, I'm cheap like that...

I was excited when I read your post until I saw that the place you were referring to was in Lake Charles, haha. It is good to know that some places offer that service, though.
Anyone know of one in Houston? |

Yeah, I know. I figured it won't help too many of y'all unless you are willing to ship the jersey over and let them ship it back to you. Which, in the big scheme of things, would only add about 5-10 bucks and 2-4 days to the whole process.
If nothing else, there is at least one option.

I just gave them a call. Sounds like a pretty good place. She said it would be fine to ship it in.
I was curious... what color is your jersey? Also, do you happen to have a picture of it close-up on the back? I don't want to ship it off and then find out that my jersey can't be altered the way they are going to do yours. It is an authentic White Carr jersey. Thank in advance... I have been really looking to find a place to get this done (without having to fix it myself). |

Call 'em up and chat with them. Seems to me that if you threw a USPS priority return mailer in with the jersey, they could just toss the whole shooting match back in the mail to you.
And no, I don't work for this Nafco group. They just seem like decent folks and are willing to help a few Texan fans out. It also helps blot out the Carr legacy... Drewmar74 - eliminating a legacy of incompetence one jersey at a time.

I dropped off two jerseys. An authentic white and an authentic blue. Both have the nameplates sewn on to the jerseys with the letters sewn to the nameplates. Looked like zig-zag stitching on the letters and lock stitching on the plates. As long as they can get the old nameplate off, they should be able to do the modification. I didn't even think of getting "before" pictures. The way I see it is this - an authentic Carr is like having an authentic dog turd. It used to be Gravy Train, but now it stinks up the room and is worthless. I'm willing to roll the dice on this joint to see if they can pull it off and turn my turds into something I might actually wear. And I don't believe in jinxes. Most everything is redeemable.

A converted jersey actually has 19% more luck on it than a new SCHAUB jersey. That's a fact right there. Converting your old CARR jersey is symbolic of the tranformation that the Texans have undergone. Same team (jersey) but new look (name). Having a quality converted CARR jersey is a sign that you didn't just jump on the bandwagon like all the fair weather fans out there. It means you've been through the hard times and kept right on coming back for more.

Shoot, she could have made some money doing that for other folks!
Seriously, though. Do you still have access to that letter template from the Chronic?

TL13 -
I'll shoot a copy of this template over to Nafco on Monday. That way they know what the letters should look like.

Haha, I didn't mean any disrespect to your wife with that post. I was actually making fun of myself for being too lazy to do it. My message was misinterpreted.... which happens often on a message board. Imagine that. I envy you. The girl I intend to marry has none of the skills you mentioned. Actually, she did pretty good with our homecoming stuff. But she can't cook.... and it makes me sad. I still love her though. |
