wow nice jab Justice.
Mr Gary A Vinson I would like to point out the great media coverage you are about to experience. Besides lying to the fans about saying you would start off with the Texans this year you also lied about giving fair and balanced coverage (week #1 and week #2 go to the titans). Enjoy the coverage; you deserve it. From Richard Justice (Houston Chronicle): If you live in Austin, good luck watching our beloved Texans. Someone tell the hayseeds at the CBS affiliate in Austin that Vince has left the building and they really need to move on. I don't normally insult the people who run a television station because, well, me being good-looking and all, I have some aspirations in that area. I'm making an exception in this case. The CBS affiliate in Austin won't be carrying the Texans' game against Kansas City this week. They're sticking with their boy Vince. I guess they figure that everyone in Austin still loves Vince and would rather watch him than the Texans. Maybe the Arkansas State game has convinced orange bloods that remembering the past is going to be a lot more fun than dealing with the present. I'll admit our boys haven't given folks much to cheer for, and I guess they haven't been reading my glowing reviews of the work Gary Kubiak and Rick Smith have done the last few weeks. I reckon the hayseeds will come around at some point. Once they see that the Titans aren't all that interesting and once they see that the Texans finally will be putting an interesting and competitive team on the field, they'll tune back in. Until then, they'd be wasting their time to call me even if, say, the 10 o'clock sports anchor job opens up. That is, unless the money is sweet. http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice...u_live_in.html Hope you enjoy the read. Sincerely Thomas

I love this. I also emailed every single news outlet in Austin over the weekend.
I wish we could organize a tailgate protest in front of the station. |

Has he been lurking on our boards?? I usually am one of Dick's harshest critics, but kudos for this.

Cowboys games get higher ratings than Texans games in Houston.
Not to defend KEYES here, but I think it's just a matter of ratings. The Texans are not a big draw at the moment, and tv stations must ultimately make decisions based upon the bottom line. They pander to advertisers....who really pays attention to ratings. When the Texans start winning and build up the fanbase, KEYES will start showing the games again because of demand. |

But I disagree about 'fans'. Most are front-running bandwaggoners, and the only exceptions seem to be teams with championship histories. Houston's ratings indicate more folks watch the Cowboys than the Texans. So I don't see a core fanbase of hardcore Texans fans that are patiently waiting for the first winning season. There is definitely a group of us, but we are in the minority of sports fans in H-town. Most will jump on the bandwagon after the winning starts. Now transfer that to the Austin market. The Texans have the national perception of being losers, and to make matters worse, we look like we are incompetent in choosing a first overall pick...even from the beginning of our franchise's existence. But from a purely business perspective, I understand their decision even if I think they were dishonest and do not agree with it. In our capitalistic society, one thing rules all: $$$ And this decision by KEYES is obviously 100% monetary with absolutely no desire to cater to a small Texans fanbase. |

I am not sure if I agree with the ratings because I have been unable to see how the ratings for every single game has been played out. Vinson only used 3 different examples of games but without the comparison of what games were were shown throughout the whole year on cbs and fox and what the ratings for all games I am not sure if I believe that. Since this is Austin, it could be ad revenue of UT alumns running business that could also dicate what is shown here. Until I see all the numbers I just simply believe Vinson is full of crap and is lying to the Texans fans.
