regardless of the loss today i loved what i saw with D-Rob, he was all over the field today, 4 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble
. Not to mention his 5 INT's this year . His coverage ability has improved over the season too. You dont see him getting beat by receivers anymore. He definitely deserves Def. Rookie of the Year and I hope he is with us for a long time.

D-Rob has had a very good year. Considering he is only a rookie, he has stepped up and played well. I am really impressed with his hitting. He will sacrifice his whole body to make a stick. Pound for pound he may be one of the hardest hitters in the game!!

I think that in the first round we have done the following:
2002 David Carr Jury's still out. Has he been put in a position to prove that he's the real thing yet or has he simply failed to prove it? I personally think the jury remains out on Carr for another year. In three years I've not yet seen him play in a single game where I could say "Everything else was fine, Carr won/lost this". When we get to the point where the offense has no more excuses we'll know whether Carr is going to be the real thing. Until then it's only glimpses one way or the other. 2003 Andre Johnson Not a doubt in my mind AJ is the real thing. Much like Carr though I don't think we've seen everything this guy is capable of. Partially because of Carr and the situation he's in AJ isn't going to really explode until the problems up the chain get fixed but he's clearly demonstrated that he was an excellent choice. 2004 Dunta Robinson & Jason Babin Robinson is absolutely the real thing. A rookie, trying to cover people behind this pass rush and still having the kind of season Dunta has put together is special. This pass rush makes people like Aaron Glenn look average and it's affected Robinson in the same way. Can you even imagine what he'd be doing if the Texans were in the top 10 in sacks? If the Texans were putting real heat on the QB Dunta would already be in the pro bowl and just waiting to find out who else was going to get to go. Babin is in the kind of position where he's going to need time to develop into what we wanted when we draft him. I don't think there's any way to fairly evaluate what you've got in a player picked to do what Babin is doing until they've had a year to adjust. The one thing that I believe is a good sign about Babin is he hasn't proved to be a bust. I think we'd know it already if he wasn't capable of making the transition and that's good news. Nobody knows what the future holds for Mr Babin but if he was going to completely washout I think he'd have done it by now and be riding pine. He's not so we're still on track and in fact I think he's done pretty darned well all things considered. Dunta the best pick the Texans have ever had? Very possible at this point I think. |

Is this the same Champ Bailey who has been torched by Joey Porter and Chad Johnson his last two times on National TV??? I think D-Rob may be having a better season then Champ....

In response to Hervoyel on the draft picks-
Carr- I'm seem to be really impressed most of the time with him. Then something like today happens. I realize that he did not have ample pass blocking today. The interception he threw today was awful. He tried to force it and look what happend. Yes, that is one mistake. That one mistake had a negative effect on the scoreboard today. He is very mobile and very good on bootlegs. I would love to see him be able to march down the field being able to stand in the pocket and use that cannon of an arm. Until I can see his pocket ability, the jury is still out. AJ- This guy is a stud. How many other WR's get screens thrown to them and gain 10 yards. And with these screens as of today he was leading the league in YAC. This guy is a major weapon, and great pick. Where has Charlie Rogers gone?? Nice pick Detroit?!? D-Rob- Great pick. This guy is a player. He is intelligent and a very physical player. He will be great for years to come. Babin- Still learning. He is good against the run. Pass rush he needs to get faster off the edge. I realize he did play DE at WM. In the off season they need to work on his speed and explosiveness. I believe he is intelligent enough to be successful in our scheme. I am willing to give him a year learning experience and I belive that is what the coaching staff is doing. Not too impressed, but not disappointed either. |

yeh im impressed with Babin also, i think next year he comes back and can be a pass rushing machine, if they work with him in the off season. He misses so many sacks by a split second.
I love the way he can make tackles in the open field also, today he led the texans with 7 solo tackles!

well babin has been very good against the run...too bad we didn't draft him for run support...we drafted him for his pass rushing abilities...something i am yet to see...one of the main questions about him going into the draft was level of competition and it's obvious to me that it is a problem for him to rush the passer at this level....we may have been better off drafting karlos dansby who i thought was the better guy for us...but oh well...guess we'll have to wait and see if he can develop next year

Amen! I hear this term all the time and it is silly. There is not a CB in the league that the top QB's dont go after. Even the top tier: Bailey and Law being about it, get throw on. |

Carr- Good selection, half the GM's would have taken him, the other Peppers from NC. He will be a solid NFL quarterback, Now being an all star or super star QB, the jury is still out.
Johnson- Stud!!!! Great Pick. Robinson- Stud!!!! So glad we didn't get stuck with Hall. Babin- For where we drafted him, I think it was a solid pick. He will be a solid pro. And don't get me wrong I am very happy with his performance so far, but my only concern was and still is, did we give up too many picks to get him. As a young team we need many good players, and giving up 3 to 4 possible players we will have to wait and see. We could have drafted Jones the FS from Georgia (we need help at DB), Starks DT from Maryland or that kid from Hawaii (need help and depth at DL). But like I said, I am not down on him, I just would have gone a different way. Over all I think we have done real well with our first round picks.

no, i was pretty sure DR was covering reggie, I made sure to watch him most of the game. and if he was actually covering brandon instead of marvin or reggie, your coaching is horrible

Easy slant , easy touchdown. When the Colts are at our 12 yard line you would think we might play their receivers a little tighter than 8-9 yards. Drob was also covering Stokley in the slot. The game crew highlghted a play where Stokley pushed off Dunta to get open.
