At the game today, a question arose and I do not know the answer. I know there are three time outs per half, but I keep hearing the term 30 second time out. Do the teams have the option to take a 30 second timeout or a full time out?

They do that when one team is using the time out to stop the clock. The reason is to hurry up the speed of the game.

That does not sound like a correct answer.
