I dont know is that is how you spell his name or not, but I was pumped to see him on special teams. Once Bradford is gone this guy will be great to have on the receiving corps. Did you see the wheels on him? He was down field before they guy had a chance to catch the punt a few times.

That was the thing I noticed about him....man is he fast! He almost got that open-field tackle on their returner.

yah.. if Starling continues to pan out.. we will have our receiving corp set for years to come.

I wouldnt jump to conclusions just yet. Dont you think if he was that great of a receiver, he would have made the team? Just because hes lighting fast doesnt make him a good receiver.

Yeah but the people ahead of him might have something to say about that. Him being a young receiver and all, the experience factor may have been something that decided why he isn't on the team and remember, Moses beat him out of the return job.

IMO, we need Starling to pan out as a deep threat, otherwise we will be short a field streacher, because I doubt they renew Bradfords contract particularly based on this years play and FA may not have a #2 in it. Bradford truly puzzels me, he is in a contract year and under performing. I expected him to go gang busters to get a big payday.

I liked Starling in camp and in preseason. He's not just speed - he has hands too. He was 'this' close to making the 53 but the Texans went for the sure hands guy in Moses. Starling lacks experience but I'm sure he's grown a lot while on the p.s. this year. He guns almost as good as Bell. He could be our #4 next season after AJ, Gaff, and Armstrong.

Aren't you leaving out Armstrong? I see Bradford going bye bye, with Armstrong moving up, and Starling as the #4 guy.

That will probably be our WR line up, but the question still is "Who is good enough and fast enough to be the #2"? If it's Starling that leaves Armstrong as the #4. The only one that MIGHT work IMO is Gaff if Starling isn't what we need and I think that is a BIG might.

everything ive heard about starling so far implies that he is going to be a quality player for us.

and is there some unwritten rule that the #2 receiver has to be a deep threat? Would Johnson, Armstrong, and Gaffney be a terrible trio? we would have Starling in on the 4 WR sets.. which is when you really are looking to go deep.

Not a rule, but has been kinda working out that way in the league to prevent the defenses from rolling over to the key reciever. Just kind of helps keep them honest.

Yeah, I meant to say Armstrong - not Bradford. I must have had Bradford on the mind from some other post. Anyway, I think Bradford is gone after this year too unless he agrees to some kind of veteran minimum deal with incentives. There's probably a team out there desparate for a WR that will give him more.

He definitely has some killer speed. The only thing is that he had a full speed, dead on kill shot on the returner and blew it. However, he recovered nicely to get in on the tackle which shows effort. It's still a good thing he's a receiver so he doesn't need to tackle.

yah I would have liked to see him just plow through the guy and have it show up #1 on the jacked up segment.. but even so.. what he did was good enough. The returner was knocked off balance and was unable to get any yardage before our other special teams guys took him down. Even if Starling had tackled him.. the ball would have been in the same place.
