Default Carr Mentor

As I watched David Carr on The NFL Network this morning, a very interesting question was asked, "What do you think you can do, to help lead this team to more wins and be a strong leader?" The initial thought is, go out there and do the things that make you a good player. But does that make you a good leader? When you look at the elite QB's in this league, these guys lead there team to big wins, conference championships, and Super Bowls, but all of these guys seem to have done this without a strong sideline presence as a backup, and nor do they care what anyone thinks. When you look at David Carr this season, will he take the next step and realize, "Hey, it's me, this is my team, our future depends on my leadership!" David has to come to grips this season, that whether he is loved or hated by his teammates, the team and town WILL respect his leadership and authority! Once he does this, I believe we will see not only the maturity level explode from this guy, but also the lovely locks getting cut off. As a matter of fact, I don't think it will be too long before he makes another bet.........Shaving it all off, until a Super Bowl Victory comes to Houston! Oh wow! It's FOOTBALL TIME IN HOUSTON!

Yes he has to take command of this offense. When I watched Brady the other night, I was totally in awe of the way he commanded his team and very poised. He was extremely comfortable in the pocket, even when it started breaking down. The offensive line continued to maintain their blocks and let the play progress. Carr needs to have both the command and poise to let the play develop. This will come with time, but he's nor the offensive line are not there yet.

Tom Brady wasn't sacked his rookie season for a new NFL record. Carr has showed tremendous maturity and poise already with the way he has handled all the sacks and kept coming back 100%. I personally think he has already taken control of the leadership position, but the question is whether or not the team wants to be led.
