Was researching info on D.Carr on the Fresno State web sight, when I came across these bowl game stats. Looks like to me, Carr threw for some pretty impresive stats during his two bowl games at Fresno State. He's got it in him to do some amazing things, I think he's just on the edge...of showing us here in Houston just what's underneath all that hair! haha

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Charles Rogers set a Michigan State record with 270 yards receiving - and he wasn't even the most prolific pass-catcher on the field at the Silicon Valley Football Classic.

It was that kind of a day in San Jose, as Rogers caught two of Jeff Smoker's three touchdown passes during the Spartans' phenomenal first half in a 44-35 victory over Fresno State on Monday.

In a matchup of two potent offenses that combined for 1,146 total yards, Smoker and Rogers outdueled Fresno State's high-profile combo of David Carr and Rodney Wright, who finished with 13 catches for a school-record 299 yards and two TDs.

Carr threw for 531 yards to Smoker's 376, but the Spartans' big early lead proved too large to overcome. After Fresno State (11-3) pulled within two points in the final minutes, the Spartans made one last scoring drive to clinch their second bowl victory under coach Bobby Williams.

T.J. Duckett rushed for 184 yards and two scores as Michigan State overwhelmed the Bulldogs, whose high-octane offense was expected to dominate the game. Instead, Fresno State ended its breakout season with its first loss in four games against teams from BCS conferences.

Carr, who won the Johnny Unitas award as the nation's top senior quarterback, ended his prolific career with another amazing game, but he couldn't play defense. Fresno State fell to 0-3 in bowl games during Pat Hill's otherwise successful tenure.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - After being down 34-7 at halftime, many thought the Bulldogs would be in for a route, but Fresno State responded only to come up 33 yards short with 14 seconds remaining as Air Force defeated Fresno State 37-34 in the inaugural bowl game at Spartan Stadium.

David Carr threw five touchdown passes for the Bulldogs, who nearly pulled it off. With 14 seconds left, Fresno State brought in Asen Asparuhov for a 33-yard field-goal attempt to tie it.

But holder Jason Simpson pulled a fake, aiming for Giachino Chiaramonte in the end zone. The pass fell incomplete.

Trailing 19-0 late in the first quarter, Fresno State finally got on the board with a 71-yard touchdown pass from Carr to Paris Gaines with 23 second left in the opening quarter. It was the longest reception of Gaines' career.

Carr completed 22 of 33 passes for 391 yards.

This was the info on the first Bowl game, the year before in 2000. Carr threw 5 touchdown passes and almost pulled off an amazing comback finish. Intersting...hope he does that for us this year, or in the years to come as he gets more and more comfortable in the NFL. Thought it was interesting info about our QB, wanted to pass it on if it is of interest to any of ya'll. It's a nice look into his capabilities, I think.

I was in the stands for about half the games Carr played at Bulldog Stadium. Everyone here knew right away he was at another level. His poise and maturity was obviously above the ordinary and a great complement to his physical tools.

I can't wait for Capers to open up the passing game so NFL fans can see for themselves what a cannon that young man has.

I can guarantee you this, fellow Texans fans - David Carr will never quit on you.

The mystry for this year is the defense and not the offense. I have a feeling the Denver game is going to be a good indication of what the year is going to be like. In David's last year at Fresno it was simply could Fresno outscore the oposition, because the defense wasn't going to hold anyone down. I think we have that possibility with the Texans this year. I think we are going to surprise a lot of people with our offense this year. I suspect we will be in several shoot outs this year. David is beginning to show the maturity that's required in the NFL which comes with time played. I think this year's offense will become our best defense, because if we are in the lead it will pressure the other team into making mistakes. I look for a miserable year defensively. I think the injury bug will be in force again this year. We will have to draft a number of new young defensive players inorder to destroy the injury bug. Until then all we can do is hope.
