See, here's the thing. A.J. believes the answer is "no". So he wants outta here.
Foster is more positive in saying that if the team doesn't get down at the first bump in the road, the answer is "yes". We can get back to being a winning team again.

but I didn't ask you about what "CAN" happen...
I asked you what do you honestly think WILL happen?

Do you believe they WILL have a winning record?
yes or no?

and in the interest of full disclosure, I say "no".
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not wishing for a losing season in any way. I'm predicting a losing season.
Why?
- the history of coaches from the Belichick tree gives me no reason for optimism.
- Fitzpatrick is our QB.
- RAC is putting in an entirely new defense and I'm not sure he has all the pieces he needs to make it work. Especially at ILB.

I ain't saying that we will be drafting in the top five again; I just see another season under .500. Say 6-10 or 7-9.

I'll be elated if I'm wrong.

I'm in agreement with you Obiswan, for all the same reasons. I'd add, I don't feel O'Brien is our coach of the future, nor do I feel his style of offense is the future of the NFL. We can't keep tying our team to others ideas and concepts, we need an innovator, not the same old crap regurgitated from someone else's scheme. From Denver South, to New England South (minus Tom Brady)... how about we be the team with the new ideas for once?

I would atleast wait to see how his first season goes before dismissing him.

I've been through many years of warmed over crap, always optimistic, always a sunshine pumper.... I hope I'm wrong, but maybe if I'll just dismiss him now, I won't be disappointed then... we all handle GRIEF differently LOL

Call me crazy but with Andre we have had two, 2-14 seasons, and two playoff appearances, so having or not having AJ in the line up doesn't matter to me.

Lets go Texans1

Very true, i never thought about it like that. Maybe or offense will be better because then the defense wont know 100% where we are going with the ball

If we win 6 games I will probably be satisfied with the first season. After that there should be improvement or BOB will have to answer for it.

Conversely fewer wins and I think BOB still gets a pass his first year (unless we lose every game or something) but his seat is much hotter. More wins (7+) and my optimism will begin to grow. If we pull 9-7 or 10-6 I will consider it a significant achievement by BOB... not to mention that could be enough for a wildcard entry into the playoffs.

If this team stays relatively healthy and if Andre comes back, I will be upset if we don't make the play-offs.

Depends on how we actually play as to whether I think OB did a good job or not.

With this strength of schedule I could see a 7-9/9-7 season. Because of

1. As bad as Fitzpatrick might be he will be an improvement over the QB the Texans got last yr.

2. BOB wont do as badly coaching the team as Kubiak did last yr and it appears the asst coaching positions have all been upgraded except I have my doubts about OL coach Dunn.
3. I consider RAC to be a huge upgrade at DC ane he's got a lot of talent to work with. If Nix/Cushing stay healthy and play up their potential the Texans will have one of the best front 7's in the NFL.

Who do you see in the Texans division as better?

Colts minus non steroided up Mathis for the 1st 4 games? Locker lead Tacks? Chad Henne and the Jags? Yep, they really scare me.

I could easily see 5-1 within the AFC South and playing the last place schedule another 4 wins shouldn't be out of the question. A lot of this hinges on 1. Fitzpatrick, 2. Health 3. Newton

I don't know how many times we'v heard Kubiak saying that they will go to AJ.
To imply that Keenum can't spread the ball, or can't go to a second read is ridiculous.

Let me give some numbers to prove the point.

In 2013, AJ tied with Pierre Garcon as being most targeted, at 181 apiece.
The QBs on both teams (Skins and Texans) combined for the same number of pass attempts (611).
Pierre freaking Garcon!
One would think that RGIII and Cousins would combine to target AJ some 300 times if they play for the Texans.

Secondly, the target number include "throw aways".
These are not really targets, since the QBs were pressured and just wanted to get rid of the ball.

Schaub and Keenum combined for 32.
RG III and Cousins combined for just 17.
(I don't have a number for Yates in his 22 attempts.)

At any rate, the Skins actually targeted Garçon more than the Texans did AJ.

Now, Keenum went to AJ 74 times in 253 passes, for a clip of 29.24%

Schaub and Yates combined for 107/380 for 28.16% (1% less.)

In the years when AJ played all 16 games, these are his. Numbers:

2012
162/554 = 29.24%
(The same percentage Keenum targeted him.)

2009
171/593 = 28.84%

2008
170/555 = 30.63%

Is there any doubt about Kubiak's game plan?

I would be shocked if they make the playoffs with Ryan Fitzpatrick as QB.

Heck, I'd be shocked if they posted a winning record with Ryan Fitzpatrick as QB.

You folks are far more optimistic than I am. I figure 9-7 at absolute best. More likely 6-7 wins.

Health 3. Newton
The Colts are better just from QB play alone. The other two teams in the division are, as we are, big question marks. I don't think Henne or Locker finish the year as their teams' starters. Maybe we get out of the division with a 3-3 record. Maaaybe we get 3 or 4 wins out of the other ten games.
And just for grins, let's see who those are...
Washington - think RAC will have his D ready for a healthy RGIII?
@ Oakland - I just hope Schaub doesn't throw for 350 yds on us.
@ Giants - Can Fitzy outduel Eli?
Buffalo - Mario comes home to roost
@ Dallas - Have we ever beaten the Cowboys up there? Seriously, I don't remember
@ Pittsburgh - Can Fitzy outduel Big Ben?
Philadelphia - Can KJ or J-Joe cover Jeremy Maclin? Can our LBs run with LeShon McCoy?
@ Cleveland - Johnny F. Football should be the starter by now. What do you think will happen
Cincinnati - Can our guys stay with A.J. Green?
Baltimore - Boy we better beat Kubiak's offense in our house.

Cleveland, Oakland, and Buffalo are possible wins; but then again, two of those games are on the road....
Like I said I see six, maybe seven wins...
