I would like to see us bring in one or two of these guys for a look.

QB.
James Franklin, Missouri
Jeff Mathews, Cornell
Bryn Renner, North Carolina
Connor Shaw, South Carolina

Whether we draft a QB first or not I say bring in as many QB's as possible.

Now. The question is... do we want to do another after this? Maybe switch teams around to let people have chances with other teams?
I was actually looking into modifying a piece of software for doing one of these drafts. Basically the idea is to take an existing fantasy football draft program, and filling it with 2014 NFL draft prospect data instead. Then making it available on the web as a .NET application, and letting people create accounts to join a draft. Obviously an email account would be required, so it could send automated emails to the GM when their team is up or on deck and such. I think it would be really cool, but I haven't really had time to do it since the project I'm on has kept me really busy.

I never really got that far with it, but I might look into it next week while on business travel and bored. I don't think it would be all that hard to do, and I could host the application on my personal server at home. I think it would make these drafts go incredibly fast, and I could probably make it to where individuals could control all 32 teams to create their own mock draft. Might be cool, but it will take some work.

I'm more of a php/oracle guy than a .net guy (although I was a c/c++ programmer for years) but... hmm... it would be do-able. I just don't have the time to work on it or I'd try to lend a hand with it.

If my schedule frees up, I might take a stab at it myself.

Ok, the results page and the spreadsheet have been updated and completed! Now for some numbers! YAY!

Our draft this year was heavily weighted towards the Defense, with 38 more picks (15%) going that direction.

Code:
POS	Total
QB	15
OT	21
DE	22
WR	28
OLB	20
ILB	15
CB	30
FS	12
SS	13
DT	21
TE	14
OG	17
RB	20
C	5
FB	2
K	1

Total	256
Offense	109
Defense	147

As for conferences, it should be no surprise that the SEC remains the #1 drafted conference in total numbers and in weighted score. However, the PAC 12 moved up to #2 in both categories this year. The SEC and the PAC 12 were the only conferences to have at least 1 drafted player from every member school. The "Score" is the number of draftees divided by the number of schools in the conference, this allows for a more competitive view of comparing the numbers between conferences.

Code:
Conf	Total	Score
SEC	60	4.28571428571429
Big 12	15	1.5
Big 10	25	2.08333333333333
PAC 12	41	3.41666666666667
Ind.	10
ACC	38	2.71428571428571
MWC	19	1.58333333333333
AAC	9	1
MAC	5	0.384615384615385
CUSA	7
Ivy	1
D2/D3	23
SunBelt	3

The individual schools with the most prospects drafted should come as no surprise. Alabama leads all schools with 11 prospects. The only unlikely name would be Colorado State with 5 draftees. Here are the top 12, every other team had 4 or less draftees.

Code:
School	Players
Alabama	11
LSU	10
FloridaST	9
USC	8
Notre Dame	7
Stanford	7
Florida	7
Oregon	6
Clemson	5
Missouri	5
ColoradoST	5
Wisconsin	5
Thanks to the guys who helped run this draft, Blake, Wolverinefan, and Steelb, it was a lot of fun! And thanks to everyone who participated!

You are correct, I had some of the players listed as UNC and some as North Carolina. I us a =unique function to pull the names, and then have a count function run by the name of the schools provided. So when there is a school with a few different names to it, I sometimes miss the abbreviations.

Ah makes sense. I thought I was going to crazy for a second haha. I've done the same thing in similar situations before.

Thanks again! It's definitely interesting to see the complete break down of every position selected.

Bills Draft
09(09) Buffalo Bills (Blake) Jake Matthews - OT - Texas A&M
09(41) Buffalo Bills (Blake) Kelvin Benjamin - WR - Florida State
09(73) Buffalo Bills (Blake) Cyril Richardson - OG - Baylor
09(109) Buffalo Bills (Blake) Will Clarke - DE - West Virginia
09(149) Buffalo Bills(Blake) Colt Lyerla - TE - Oregon
09(185) Buffalo Bills(Blake) Daniel Sorensen - S - BYU
09(224) Buffalo Bills(Blake) Brock Vereen - S - Minnesota

I think E.J. Manuel would be very happy with this draft. He got the starting right side of his offensive line upgraded while adding a topflight receiver and talented, but troubled TE. I wanted to replace Byrd earlier I never found the right value.

Broncos Draft
31(31) Denver Broncos (Blake) Ra'Shede Hageman - DL - Minnesota
31(63) Denver Broncos (Blake) Shayne Skov - ILB - Stanford
31(95) Denver Broncos (Blake) Cameron Fleming - OT - Stanford
31(131) Denver Broncos (Blake) Rashaad Reynolds - CB - Oregon State
31(171) Denver Broncos (Blake) Kain Colter - WR, Northwestern
31(207) Denver Broncos (Blake) Tyler Gaffney - RB - Stanford
31(246) Denver Broncos (Blake) Carrington Byndom - DB - Texas

I tried to upgrade Denver's Defense with premium picks while replacing some departing offensive pieces. Gaffney could be a great fit and only cost a 6th. Colter is my wildcard. I think he can learn from Welker and develop into a great slot receiver.

Yeah, I think I got that covered correctly. I had to look up a decent amount of the conferences due to the midlevel school changes. If you or anyone else spot an error, just let me know and I'll change it.

Even through not all of these were my picks I'm pleased with the results (also thanks for making picks while I was sorting my personal stuff out...all is well thank GOD)

1.) Xavier Su'a Filo OG UCLA

The best Guard in the Draft. Adds much needed depth in the interior and allows the Chargers to plug in a starter or let him learn and gain experience before taking on a full-time role.

2.) Jeremiah Attaochu OLB Georgia

You can never have enough pass-rushing OLBs and he adds depth and provides a much-needed replacement for the departed Shaun Phillips.

3.) Pierre Desir CB Lindenwood

Project pick but with a solid upside should he pan out. Tall CB who can develop into a starter.

4.) Charles Leno Jr. OT Boise State

Adds depth to the OL.

5.) Brent Urban DE Virginia

Depth for the D-line

6.) Xavier Grimble TE USC

Risky pick but if he pans out can become a solid receiving TE.

7.) Andrew Wilson ILB Missouri

More depth at the LB position.

Good stuff. How are you going to run Nickel "70% of the time" though? If you believe that hogwash, which I don't.

board just didn't fall so well for Texans as gm's plucked up need positions/players desirable before each pick or so it seemed. QB position is a MF'er to fill. want so bad to take Clowney, but I'm not a 2nd tier guy, want best of the best. if you feel Bridgewater is the man, then you draft him. if you feel Fitzpatrick can fill role temporary & afford you time to develop top talent QB like Bortles then I think he should be the pick, higher upside.

1.1 Blake Bortles, QB
2.1 DaQuan Jones, NT
3.1 Deone Bucannon, SS
4.1 James Hurst, OT
4.35 Jordan Tripp, OLB
5.1 Jordan Zumwalt, ILB
6.1 Cody Latimer, WR
6.35 Tom Savage, QB
7.1 Storm Johnson keeping this gem, pair him up w/Bortles
7.41 Shaquille Richardson, CB
