This is a surprise.

Someone will snatch him up faster than I can type this.
He's probably got the 2nd most field goals in Reliant behind Brown.

Didn't VY beat us with 8 Bironas FGs in one game? or was that another QB?

Edit - it was Kerry Collins.

Hopkins had 52 catches for 802 yards. The last time Kevin Walter had 800+ yards: 2008. That was the only year Walter had more yardage than Hopkins did his rookie year. And I've heard talk on this board of trading Hopkins.. Crazy people.

I don't get this unless if the Packers run a 4-3 scheme as well. I don't see Peppers at 6'7" 290-lbs rushing off the edge like a LB...maybe a DE like watt?

Wow, wonder what's going on with the Panthers? Also, I kept thinking the guy's name was Gentlemen and was thinking WTF.

Yeah, but Hopkins isn't nearly as good at run-blocking as Walter was. That adds at least 200 yards to Kevin's production, making him the equivalent of a 1000 yard receiver.

Why would an OLB be lined up next to Matthews?

His best QB getting days are most likely behind him. Occupying a tackle & protecting his 2 gaps... He's probably got enough left in the tank to do that.

Nothing crazy at all about it. Sometimes you give up something to get something.

If you're happy with Hopkins (no reason not to be) then you don't do that.

If you think Hopkins will be as good or better than Watkins you don't do that.

If you covet Clowney or one of the top QB's you don't do that.

If you can't find someone to give you a 1st for Hopkins then you can't do that.

BUT.... If you believe that Watkins will be better than Hopkins, don't see another player at the top of the draft that you think is better than Watkins, and could find someone who would do it (give you a 1st for Hopkins) then it's not crazy at all. Besides, it was just an idea to kick around.

I liked the other scenario suggested in that thread better, the one where you get the Browns to trade up with you and snatch both of their 1st round picks, take Watkins, get your defender, and then Garoppolo or some other QB you like as a project in the second round.

I honestly wouldn't mind Houston selecting Watkins at 1.1, keeping Hopkins and going with a QB at 2.1. A WR group of Johnson, Watkins & Hopkins would be insanely good.

That's the 2008 Walter though...he's long gone.

$$$ says Hopkins only gets better.

The only thing that does not make sense is why the Texans have not signed him yet.
