People need to stop freaking out. We are up against the cap and were not going to be big shoppers. We all knew this going in. Yet that never stops people from losing it because we haven't signed 3 starters yet.

There are still plenty of guys still out there that can come in and contribute to this team. No reason to get caught up in the feeding frenzy that is the first few days of Free Agency and do something stupid. Here's a list of some guys who are still available. Many of them could be had for cheap if there is slow market for them.

All we have done since midpoint last season is unload starters while only signing a few un-impactful players...it's time to worry!

Totally agree. It's kinda funny to read through this thread. What did people expect was going to happen? The top teams in the league build through the draft and add complementary pieces through FA. No reason to put your 2-14 team in salary cap hell by making bad deals on the first few days of FA. Wait it out and find the guys that are bargains.

Sorry if this has been posted, and I don't know how to put up tweets but..

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
#Patriots Pro Bowl DT Vince Wilfork has asked that the team release him after 10 seasons in New England, according to sources.
Twitter

Idk how much money he's looking for, but maybe he wants to play for his old coach Romeo Crennel, even though it was for one year.. maybe I'm just a dreamer

Free agency is important, but so is the draft, and so is who's left standing after pre-season. We got a long ways to go before we start smashing the panic button.

Last I heard Raji didn't want to play NT in a 3-4, he wants to be an UT, 3 tech DT, get after the QB & make some money.

Going off this, up in Philly, most Eagles fans were mostly worried, doom and gloom etc. Now they can't STFU AGAIN about how great the team is. It's amazing what a new (good) regime can do for a team

D-Ware or Revis weren't ever coming obviously, but I was hoping for some average free agents to fill some holes. Aren't there only two defensive linemen on the roster? Cam Thomas and Ziggy Hood are out there.
There is a reason why jackson, woodley, hood, and spikes are free agents. Its either age, injury,or production. Who wants to overpay for guys like that. You wait and the closer it gets to the draft, the better the price. After this 2 week run, teams go back to their draft stuff. Players and agents know this. So a guy like woodley who had 37 sacks in his first 3 yrs but 13 in his last 3,he's gonna take a below avg deal. Tyson jackson who went to atl isn't worth much of anything and that's why kc didn't even bother. Spikes is young and solid and ne didn't even offer him anything.

Let those teams trying to make a splash spend the money and then moving in and get quality players cheap.

Yet teams like the Patriots and Broncos are making early big FA signings, they both help build a team.

The Patriots and Broncos aren't "building" anything. Its already been built. They're adding pieces to complement what they already have. The Bucs showed the past few years that just going out and making big splashes early doesn't always translate to wins. The Texans have way too many holes to fill than to overspend on 1 or 2 pieces that won't make a huge difference.

I also trust that the new hires in the pro scouting department may find some diamonds in the rough that we normally would've overlooked in previous years.

I agree and pats and broncos are somewhat on the clock with their QBs. It could take the texans 3 years to determine who the QB of the future is and there is no point in putting yourself through cap hell, just to get people excited.

Big difference between the Pats, Broncos and Texans......2-14

Anyone that was expecting the Texans to reel in a top tier FA with our crappy 2-14 record and limited cap # was fooling themselves.

We will sign several FAs this Summer, but they will be JAGS. JAGs, draft picks and UDFAs will fill the remaining roster spots.
