The question, does the Combine make any difference? See Cyrus Kouandjio. A consensus 1st rd pick at the start of the The Combine and after the 40, medicals and drills is out of the 1st rd with no real idea how far he could drop.

Because there were never charges pressed, it's difficult to know what to believe. I think every team would have to make their own assessment.

Warning!!! Don't play a Taylor Lewan press conference drinking game where the buzz phrase is "play through the whistle". You will die of alcohol poisoning.

I would not take Jake in the first round.

Top 5 pick is supposed to be All-Pro.

The 2013 All Pro Tackles were Joe Thomas and Jason Peters. Would you consider either of those guys maulers?

With Lucas injured, he'll likely fall maybe even to UDFA.

Would love he Txans to nab him still.

Lyerla with a 4.47...

I would roll the dice on him in like the 4th or 5th round if he fell that far...

Ebron with a 4.50...Nice...

#Texas WR Mike Davis won’t be taking part in Combine on-field drills because he wasn’t cleared. Has a minor right foot injury, I’m told.

One team asked Tennessee OL Tiny Richardson, “How would you have handled Richie Incognito if you had been Jonathan Martin?” Interesting.

Uh huh

Quote:
But the reason he looked so slow might be more of a concern to teams.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, “several teams” have failed Kouandjio on his physical because of an arthritic knee, which stemmed from a failed surgery.

The massive blocker was considered a first-round talent when he left school, but those medical concerns could cause him to slide, and make teams wonder where to draw the line between obvious talent and potential medical risk.

Kouandijo didn't look nearly as good this year as he did last year with Warmack next to him. Don't know if that's injury related or not but I noticed it fairly easily when watching him.

They aren't really identifying the details of the injury/surgery, but it was a leg whip occurring in 2011 that led to a very extensive ACL and MCL injury that led to significant cartilaginous destruction......hence the delayed arthritic condition that has finally developed into an overt late deterioration of performance.

Default Re: NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis February 19-24, 2014

I had to start laughing when they had the OL doing the vertical jump. Really? I get that you are measuring athleticism, but I've never seen a vertical jump be useful for an OL on a football field. Running the 40 is also somewhat ridiculous as rarely does an OL ever sprint 40 yards downfield. Again, I realize it's all about testing athleticism, but athleticism that doesn't apply to what you do on a football field is pointless. I do, however, think the 10-yard split is important. An OL rarely goes 40 yards on a play, but they routinely go 10 yards and they need to be able to burst out of stance.

The top 10-yard splits from today.....

#1) 1.59 - Matt Patchan (6-6, 302) - OT, Boston College
#2) 1.64 - Taylor Lewan (6-7, 309) - OT, Michigan
#3) 1.68 - Greg Robinson (6-5, 332) - OT, Auburn
#4) 1.68 - Joel Bitonio (6-4, 302) - OT/OG, Nevada
#5) 1.70 - Jake Matthews (6-5, 308) - OT, Texas A&M
#6) 1.71 - Michael Schofield (6-6, 301) - OT/OG, Michigan
#7) 1.71 - Seantrel Henderson (6-7, 331) - OT, Miami (FL.)
#8) 1.71 - Zach Fulton (6-5, 316) - OG, Tennessee
#9) 1.72 - Trai Turner (6-3, 310) - OG, LSU
#10) 1.72 - Wesley Johnson (6-5, 297) - OT/OG, Vanderbilt
#11) 1.72 - James Stone (6-4, 306) - C, Tennessee
#12) 1.72 - Russell Bodine (6-3, 310) - OG/C, North Carolina
#13) 1.72 - Travis Swanson (6-5, 312) - OG/C, Arkansas
#14) 1.72 - Conor Boffeli (6-4, 298) - OG, Iowa

*For those that were tied, I ordered them by who ran the faster 40-yard dash (thus finally making it useful for something).

- One note: Look at the top 5. What looks out of place? I'll help.....Greg Robinson. A guy that massive shouldn't be able to move like that. Same with Henderson, but then the question with Henderson has never been athletic ability.

Stephon Tuitt checked in at 304 lbs, which was his playing weight in 2012. Prior to the 2013 season, I learned today, he had hernia surgery, gained weight and played this past season at 320 lbs. At 300 lbs he would certainly be a nice fit for our new defense, but he'll go in the bottom half of the first. I don't know how we could get him unless we trade down for extra picks.
