is anybody else in a dilemma? i want the texans to draft manziel a lot but i also want them to draft clowney, we can't miss with the jaguars picking 3rd... its like if we take manziel i can see clowney taking him out and if we take clowney i can see manziel tearing us up every year

really hope they both perform at their peak during combine testing that way it can be projected if or not Clowney can catch Manziel in open field, if he can then take Clowney

One thing that I worry about is Manziel's knee. Example him wrenching it during the Auburn game and having to sit out for awhile. I think the possibility of him blowing out that knee is great.

Yeh I would rather have another dull boring no leading lifeless QB than one who is super competitive and plays with a chip on his shoulder.

If I call my wife a ***** to her face behind closed doors or post it on facebook it doesn't change the fact that I called her a *****.

Not at all. We've got to learn how to beat the best anyway. If beating Manziel/Clowney are the stepping stones we need to beating Brady/Mathis... then so be it.

Of course, I wouldn't mind having our own "Brady/Mathis"

I hear you. But I fear Manziel has too much "Me, Me, Me" for O'Brien. At least from what I heard about O'Brien coming in and taking down all the indications of individual awards and accomplishments.

Yeah, Manziel loves the spotlight too much for a guy with O'Brien's team-first-last-and only philosophy.

But hey, maybe they could compromise... who knows...

This one?

Quote:
“Andre Johnson is awesome,” Manziel said. “I got to know Andre a little by going to Rockets games last year, him and Arian (Foster).

“I remember the first time I met them. A friend’s uncle had courtside tickets. I remember sitting on the first row, my feet on the court. I remember peering over and looking behind me and Andre and Arian were sitting behind me. I was like, ‘This doesn’t seem right. There’s something twisted with this.’

“Arian just got a new deal (contract). Andre’s a legend. Something’s not right about this. We ended up going in the Lexus Lounge, and I got a chance to talk to (them). Me and Arian both playing in the SEC, like I remember sharing stories with him.

“Andre is a guy I still talk to. We do have a little bit of a relationship. What a great athlete. He’s so incredibly impressive.”

Manziel is hoping to have an opportunity to play with Cushing and Watt, too.

“(Cushing) is a guy I’ve talked to recently and has shown a lot of interest in me going to Houston,” he said. “He’s so talented and fearless. He’s another guy I’d love to have on my defense.

“Now, out of everybody in the NFL I’d want to go into the trenches with, J.J. Watt’s the guy. I know he’s not going to get pummeled, and I know he’s not going to stop fighting until there’s nothing left in him. That’s my kind of guy.”

His name dropping skills are quite impressive. But even more impressive is his ability to improvise and extend the name dropping to four more paragraphs. Scouts notice that.

Nah, it wasn't this one, though I haven't seen this one at all. It was about him training in San Diego with his QB coach, the one who worked with Roethlisberger and Luck, and rehashed some of his quotes that have been discussed lately. It was a John McClain write up. Front page of the Sports section from this morning.

Yes.

McClain was fawning all over JFF like a little schoolgirl. Objectivity at its lowest.

The link that I posted has video of his training on the San Diego beach with trainer George Whitfield. The training itself and the explanations by Whitfield are rather interesting.

Yeah, I saw bits of that. Good to see him working hard, at least.

This is the one in question. Didn't expect good writing from McClain. I didn't know about the part where he was working with the backup who was with O'Brien in New England. Thought that was cool.

I'd have said, "Brian Cushing, Jj Watt?? Damn right I want them on my team, that's the only way a QB can keep them off him."

If I'm Johnny I'd keep talking just to piss the people off who don't like me. I had a conversation with friends today about why they don't like him. They said "because of everything he's done". I asked "what has he done?". "Well I can really name anything specifically but he's just a jerk". Johnny's reputation is built mainly on what the media wants people to think. The worst thing he's done to me was show up at the UT party knowing he was getting into trouble. Not mad at him for the autograph signing, jet setting to basketball games, talking trash on the field, or anything else.

I don't know Mike Evans personally, but growing up in Galveston County I know a lot of people who know him and have coached him. He's never had one bad thing to say about Johnny from what they tell me. He says he's the best teammate he's ever played with. That says a lot to me and I think the Texans will get a lot of that info when they start digging through this process.,

Is Bill O'Brien, the guy known for chewing out Tom Brady, going to be impressed by a rhyming Frito idiom from a 21 year old kid? What about Rick Smith, who expressed disinterest in "bringing the circus to town" when Favre was available? What inroads did Dunte Robinson make by daring Rick Smith? Sure, different situations, but Manziel doesn't know that. It comes back to decision making.

The Texans are currently a team of veterans in need of a new on-field leader, and a 21 year old candidate needs to demonstrate he has the maturity to command their respect. At this phase of the evaluation, if he indicates uncertainty in that quality, there are two other QB candidates who will step up to prove it.
Incredible insight and analysis there. In case you haven't noticed, the #1 pick always brings a circus to town. We've seen two up close here in recent years. Perhaps you've forgotten?

You worry about a frito quote and manage to whiff on all the training. Explain to me again how O'Brien will be turned off by a guy that brought in a New England guy to teach him "his" offense.

The haters see nothing but macho bravado. Everyone else sees a kid doing his damndest to get drafted by a team in his own state.

Fully agree with this. It's a puff piece at it's finest. The only question is: Will there be more of these for the top "contenders", or is this isolated to Manziel?

I think it should be noted that Fat Boy has been criticizing Manziel all year. He wasn't exactly a fan for those thinking he's just pumping him up for certain reasons.
