Default Blake's Texans Mock

1.1) Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
His completion percentage has gone up every year from 64.5, to 68.5, to 71.0 this season. His Interceptions have gone down every season from 12, to 8, to 4. He takes care of the ball. He always keeps his eyes down field, feels pressure well, and slides around in the pocket to make his throw, not relying on tucking the ball and running. He shows up on the big stage, and delivers big game performances. Graduated early.

1.20) Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
Probably wont be popular around here. But my pick for the next great TE in the NFL. He will also become Teddy's best friend. Large man, broke Vernon Davis' record for most receiving yards by a TE in a single season. Big body to block out defenders and can make a killing down the middle of the field.

2.1) Traded Away

3.1) Traded Away

4.1) Quandre Diggs, CB, Texas
We like taking DB's in the 4th. So I am going to DB-U and getting their best corner over the past 2 seasons. 35 starts for the Horns with 32 PBU and 8 interceptions. Also has the bloodlines for the NFL.

5.1) Kapri Bibbs, RB, Colorado State
I really like this kids size. I have a hard time thinking he will be there in the 5th. But at the moment I see him in this range. Only the 3rd college football player to run for 30 or more touchdowns in a single season. Showed good vision in the bowl game I watched, and he can also wiggle through small holes to make big plays.

6.1) Jeremy Gallon, WR, Michigan
Play maker. Go to guy when it is on the line. Clutch hands. Gets open. I bet he could be trusted to return punts as a rookie.

7.1) Zach Fulton, OL, Tennessee
Experienced big boy. 3 year starter opening some big holes at RG. I'm pushing him out to compete for RT.

If TE is going to be as important as has been indicated then this could be a good idea.

With as many holes as the Texans have, I don't think we can afford to trade away valuable 2nd and 3rd round picks. Who's going to protect our future QB stud? We've got major holes at RT and LG, I can't see waiting til the 7th for an O-lineman.

While I think Teddy B will probably be the 1st pick I have to agree with Wolf that they won't give up a draft pick/picks to move up and take a TE. They can wait and get a good TE in the 2nd (ASJ or Fiedorowicz). JMO.

not a fan of this mock at all which is a surprise because i usually like your mocks.
I like the idea of going for a TE, i have been the biggest proponent of drafting one for a while now. I don't agree with trading up for one though because of the many holes we have.
Ideally i see us finding between 3-5 starters from this draft for next season, you only have 2.

Also if you must trade up for a TE i would much rather have Amaro for Texas Tech.
I watched a lot of Ebron because i was really high on his QB Renner before the start of the season so i followed UNC closely and even though he is a freak Amaro will become the better player IMO.

IMO our offence is only one or two pieces away from being a top 10 offence again, its our defence that needs a lot of work and this draft only has one defensive player who wouldn't even start or effect our defence.

We need help at ILB, OLB, CB, DE, NT. you only address one of these.

Also this draft doesn't improve ST.

The only positives i have for this draft is TB and I like Bibbs i think he could be an impact player and drafting a RB late is a good idea.

Sorry mate

I'm pretty sure "they" will utilize the FA system just as much as the draft to address our needs.

1. Like the Bridgewater pick. If you think he is a franchise guy then you take him.

2. Love Ebron, but I don't like the idea of trading up this year. We have so many holes to fill. Totally understand the move though.

4. Have soured on Diggs this year, but he does have talent.

5. Haven't watched Bibbs, but his numbers are fantastic.

6. Love Gallon. Will be a great slot WR.

7. Good pick, but would like to hit O-Line earlier than this.

Yep,especially of the discount variety. I would like to see Fred Davis get signed on a 2 yr deal. He's a guy who can get vertical and detach from los.

You have a diametricly opposite opposite way of building a football team than I do.

TB had better be Brady and Ebron needs to be Winslow for this draft to be successful.

It's time to build the trenches.

Its cool. You may be right on Amaro. I havent seen much on him. But I have seen Ebron. I guess I am just of the opinion that our defense has more talent on it than our offense between Watt, Cushing, Joseph, Swearinger, Jackson (yes, Jackson). IMHO our offense needs the overhaul.

Exactly. Im not looking to build the all madden team from 7 draft picks. Other teams will send talent to the free agent market just like we do from time to time.

#4. I am open to other corners at this spot. I just know that Diggs has skills and swagger. #6. I knew you would. :P

its interesting how we see our team each week but have varying opinions.
I think if we get that top QB (for me at this stage either TB or JF) then this will fix the offence overall.
Our DL is good i think and doesn't need to much of an overhaul unless Ninja is let go. For me our linebackers are in terrible shape as i only see one good player. Secondary needs help depth wise.

p.s. nice to have a civil debate around here once in a while.

How about this; trade down to #4 with Cleveland & select BLAKE Bortles. That would cover your name just as it did when you went by Mario. Then use the 26th pick aquired from trade down with Cleveland to take Ebron if still there or Jace Amaro. Then reconstruct your missing picks & get back to us

We will need to score a ton of points w all the holes we have on defense. FA and healthy players could address some.

This might be the way to go as Ebron seems to be rising and rising. I dont think the 20th pick will nab him. I am also interested in Austin Seferian-Jenkins now. Either way, if we go QB at the top of round 1, we need to spend our 2nd pick on a TE/WR or OL to help protect our investment. And there are plenty of great prospects in the 20-40 range.
