KC this time is an aberration. One thing does stand out though, Houston's drop was also an aberration. Only Carolina comes even moderately close. On average teams dropped 2.7 wins to get to 2. Houston dropped 10. On average teams gained 2.4 wins after being at 2.

I don't expect a KC turnaround but I do expect a bigger than normal bounce back because for the Texans it actually is a bounce back.

NOTE: When I looked at this basic issue, I only looked at teams who changed coaches. I believe Cak here is looking at win/loss trends regardless of the coach.

Actually that was kinda tongue in cheek. our performance against New England & Green Bay in 2012 pointed to what happened in 2013.

This is something that's very interesting to me. I don't know if it's because of the rules changes in the NFL or what but Back In The Day, if you drafted a QB and started him, you could count on at least 1 losing season and sometimes 2+ until he developed.

We've had a lot of QBs come out and do some good stuff recently: Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, RGIII, Dalton, Flacco, Matt Ryan... even Sam Bradford and Ryan Tannehill, to some degree.

Like TKyss, I'm not even sure our next QB is in this draft but I'm not as worried about drafting a QB and being successful that year as I would have been a couple of years ago.

I looked them up regardless of coaching change. But, every 2 was accompanied by a coaching change with the exception of the Lions where the 2 was the 1st year of rebuilding after the 0 year coaching change.

How far back did you go?

EDIT: I also did mine several years ago. So it's missing some data. It's the discrepancy of 2->4 vs. 2->6 that has me worried.

2004 was the Niners. I only looked at 2 win teams not wanting to get distracted by whether 0 or 4 or anything else was too different.

The assumption is Matthews would come as Munchak's assistant... and Munch would come if he doesn't get a HC gig because McNair will pay up for his services here.

Hate to say it but I hope he doesn't get it/accept it. I was not really a fan of some of the things our oline did technique wise. The line play just seemed sloppy. Not sure what Benton had going on but the results weren't that pretty. Mental lapses, wonky footwork. Was looking for a change there regardless.

Browns with Lombardi are having a tough time getting anyone to say "maybe". Guessing they're hoping one of the playoff OCs will jump at it but perhaps hearing through back-channels that they might be "No's", too.

Munch seems to be the backup plan this year. Hopefully he sees the dysfunction in Brownsville and waits for what will be a sure job next year with better front offices.

It's interesting to note that it seems that the main reason that Munchak was fired is because he refused to fire his OC and DC. The Browns are going to be interviewing more candidates after Munchak before they make their final choice.

They wanted him to fire 12 coaches to get an extension. Sell out his peers and eviscerate his power as Head Coach to remain as a puppet. Munch told them to stuff it. Good for him.

Still hoping he sees the light and rejects any potential offer from the Dawg Pound and lights here for 2014. Will be gonzo after that, though.

Funny contrast though.

Kubiak is a bad HC for not firing people and Smith a lackey who should be fired for not making Kubiak fire them but Munch gets kudos for refusing to fire and resisting just such an instruction.
