Agree, though, we're going to have to be a bit more patient than we think. O'Brien has never been a head coach, and will be on a learning curve.

Sounds like we're in the final stage of getting O'Brien. I'm on board with this hire. I think he could change the overall culture of this franchise, which is badly needed.

Also: I don't think Lovie was a Rooney Rule candidate. People have labeled him a re-tread, but the truth is, the guy is a successful, accomplished coach that deserves legit consideration for head coach jobs.

If we hadn't interviewed Lovie, then we wouldn't even be able to think about being this deep in negotiations with O'Brien because we'd still have to bring in a minority and interview them.

That's not to say that Lovie wasn't a real candidate or that he doesn't have the credentials to be a real candidate.

But he did fulfill our Rooney Rule requirement.

Yes, he did. My point was that he clearly was not "just" a Rooney Rule candidate.

Wow, it feels weird that the Texans FO has been making the right decisions. Hopefully this will carry over into the draft.

I am so excited that we appear to be hiring Bill O'Brien. Mark me down as saying this: Bill O'Brien will be an elite NFL head coach and he will lead the Texans to a Super Bowl.

This nightmare of a season will be worth it in the end by netting the Texans an elite head coach in Bill O'Brien and a new franchise QB.

You know what, I'd be pissed if this happens.

I'm tired of Patriots cast offs as everyone knows by now (with all the other failures associated from the Pats), STOP.

NO. No No No!

They have not been successful. AT ALL.

Want to lose Dre? There you go. Want a 5-11 season and consider it a success? There you go.

Sick and tired of this ****. How can Isray get it right but a multi-billionaire can't?

There you go.

The difference between O'Brien and the other guys in the Belichick coaching tree is that O'Brien actually went somewhere and was successful.

O'Brien might well come here and fail but after the great job he's done at Penn State in some extraordinarily bad conditions, he's probably the hottest coach available right now.

I'm wondering who we're going to have as our coordinators...

Lol. His connection to the Pats does worry me a bit, but, I say let's roll the dice. We have had 8 years of Country Club football; time to clean house and try something new. We need a new culture, vibe, energy, strategy, whatever you want to call it.

This franchise needs to be de-Kubiak'ed.

I don't get all this concern about losing players. AJ is under contract. By the way, it is not as if he is the key to winning... He's been here for a long time and the team has won two playoff games. I would add, also, that the best team we have ever fielded was in 2011 when he was essentially useless due to injuries.

He's a great player, but his potential reaction to the new coach is not something we need on our radar.

No doubt. All the owners know each other, and communicate. And, I've always gotten the sense that McNair and Kraft were somewhat close allies. I have no doubt McNair called Kraft and had a long discussion about this guy.

Wow. I actually agreed with DaleMurphy about so something!? That hasn't happened in years. Lol.

But, yeah, who gives a f--k what the players think? It's that attitude that's held us back. The players need to shut it and do their jobs. That includes 'Dre.

Great. Agreed. But this year was the same bull that we experienced from 2002-2006.

I don't want to re-live that BS and I know Dre won't either. Time to find a winning coach. And find it now.

All the pieces are there, implant a QB and a OL/pass rusher and we will be back to normal. No more rebuilding.

Win NOW.
