We have heard this dire prediction for years. In the late '90's, the rage was all about "prototype QBs" like Vick, Culpepper, McNabb, etc.

Then two pocket passers ruled the league for the next decade. And now we see Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers getting read to take their place after Manning and Brady retire.

The simple logic is that it is easier to throw a ball 40 yards than it is to run it through a gauntlet. When young mobile QBs get older, they obviously get less mobile due to age and injuries. At that point, they had better be able to read a defense and pass a ball or the league has no use for them.

Mobile QBs become vogue every decade or so. Now we see the trend because so many defenders have horrible fundamentals. But then a guy like RGIII loses his ability to run and must pass the ball and we see some clear limitations in his game.

God I hope not. This league has already taken a turn for the worse; this would be more continuation in that direction.

Every time a team I'm rooting for takes a sack, I immediately start looking for a flag before I can celebrate; every time a team I'm rooting for makes a big stop on 3rd down, I immediately start looking for a flag before I can celebrate.

It sucks. So badly. This is not the football I grew up with.

On the contrary..it's extending the life of these immobile pocket qbs. They may as well say the defense can't hit them anymore...its ridiculous.

If anyone caught the A Football Life last week on the forward pass, you quickly come to realize that the NFL has been evolving for the past 100 years.

Current changes are merely a continuation of the process.

The NFL has never been more popular. So they are not going to go back in time, but rather they will continue to implement changes that cater to the growing popularity (regardless if we like it or not). And what is popular is the passing game and the star QBs, so the league is just doing what it has always done.

No...not yet.

They are going to do what they want to do regardless of what you and I think about it. Plenty of fans to take our place if we stop watching the product.

Money talks. Our bitching about it doesn't pay any bills.

Oh my God, that's IT! That's how we solve our QB issues--we find someone who has ESPN hanging on his schlong all the live-long day and make him our starter. The refs will go out of their way to make sure he succeeds!

Well, duh!

I say we literally put in his contract that he must have ESPN tattooed on his schlong. Don't worry, it'll get on the internet somehow.

Bring back Brett Favre! You might only be able to fit "ESP" though. People will think he's psychic.

Or get Vince Young. He could get a tattoo that reads "The family of ESPN networks owned by Disney, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and other online platforms, ESPNNews, ESPN Deportes, and any and all future networks."
