So what conclusion do we draw from this? That they are unlucky? That they are gutless as a team and consistently lose the close ones? That they are almost good enough to be high average?

Take away whatever you like. Just a sad realization at how easy a WC spot would be right now had those close games or even a couple of those games gone to us.

If this team made the playoffs, they'd just be an extremely embarrassing 1 & done. We're talking 42-6 loss to whomever is the #3 seed, in the Wildcard round.

I am stoked for tomorrow. And will be glad when we get this over with.
I dont get how people can say this is just "Ricks pick" or "bob's pick" "Romeo's" or even "McNair" pic. I think I it goes deeper than the team saying" you get the next one romeo. Make the call....

Or maybe it is an easier discussion to pick a point of view and point it at one of the coaches

I like that there is secrecy around it this year - the "whose pick is it" aspect just adds to the uncertainty for the other teams, and can only help the Texan's position if they do decide to go for a trade. There are 2-4 guys who could, realistically go number one - if any other team desperately wants to pick up one of those guys, we could be in a position to benefits from the sitaution.

Plus it was kind of boring knowing that Mario was being taken a few years back - this year it'll be more exciting seeing it all unfold.

This 2014 draft will have a huge impact on the next five years for this franchise. It's crazy to think about it. Take a QB or Clowney? If QB, which one? Maybe even take Mack? I just hope we can get some luck and have a draft similar to the 2006 draft.

Thumbs down Re: Texans random thought of the day

Obviously they are going Fitzpatrick who has now been with 5 different NFL teams. Why so many different teams you ask. The answer to that question is simple. NWAS. At this point I'm not excited about our offensive team at all. Very disappointed and discouraged. Foster's over the hill, Johnson's on his last legs, lost our great tide end, Tate gone, No NFL elite quarterback.. pitiful
.

We'll draft a white TE. Guaranteed. Maybe 5 of them.

Don't know that this has been posted yet.

Reed joined JJ up in Wisconsin to workout in the offseason.

Quote:
If the Texans are going to get their best players on the field at the same time, Brooks Reed finally may have to move to inside linebacker in their base 3-4 defense.

Reed, a starter on the strong side for three seasons, may have to move inside next to Brian Cushing to make room for J.D. Clowney, the first overall pick in the draft.

Whitney Mercilus, who registered seven sacks in his first season as a starter, could replace Reed. The easiest transition for Clowney in the base defense would be on the weak side, where he’d have limited coverage responsibilities before dropping and rushing in passing situations.

“They have for the past three years,” Reed said on Monday about the coaches talking to him about the possibility of moving inside. “Obviously, we drafted some talent. The coaches will adapt, switching the players as need be.”

Last year, outside linebackers Sam Montgomery (third round) and Trevardo Williams (fourth) were selected with the hope that one would eventually be able to start, allowing Reed to move inside.

Montgomery was waived midway through his rookie year, and Williams spent the season on injured reserve.

“From the beginning, I’ve been preparing to play inside ‘backer if I had to,” Reed said. “I’m ready if they do (move him).

“It’s a little different. They’re different positions in a 3-4. It’s something I’ve done in the past, minimally. It’s something I’m up for if it happens.”

To prepare for the season, Reed went to Wisconsin to work out with J.J. Watt in February and March.

“I was there for a couple of months training with J.J. and maybe more after OTAs,” he said. “You can imagine what it’s like. It’s tough. I’m looking to raise my game this year and help this team.

“Me and J.J. talked about it before the season ended. We talked about how we wanted to get better. I wanted to get to a different environment, get in the cold. I thought it was kind of fun.”

Watt wanted to rough it. Training back home in Wisconsin, he said he slept on a mattress he placed on a friend’s floor.

So where did Reed sleep?

“Uh, I was in a hotel room,” he said.
