On the surface, that sounds pretty good.
Unfortunately by their standards, that's more than enough to keep him out there. That stat is probably the first thing they would blurt out if someone questions their decision on continuing to trot Martin out there, even if the "eye test" suggests something completely different.

I don't see him as a #2 , more of a slot guy .... but he hasn't lived up to anyone's expectations. I think he'll get gone next year. Just too many mistakes. Hope he fumbles 6-8 more times this season .... all in the two games against the Jaq's helping us lose those.

Receiver wise, I think we found our #2 guy with Hopkins. I love what he can do and I think if Keenum plays the rest of the way he'll be a candidate for ROTY possibly.

Toss McCain, Joseph and Reed in the get rid of thread. It's kinda sad when Keo's currently your best safety

Lacy will need to improve on his 4 ypc to have a chance though; or he will have to go on a scoring binge.

Williams have been playing against worse pass defenses; for the season, he will have that advantage.

Hopkins gets Seahawks and Niners, two of the top defenses;
Williams gets Redskins and Eagles twice each, and these pass defenses are just terrible.

We could probably go drag Mathis out of whatever crack house or dog fighting ring he's currently hanging out in and suit him up today and he'd outperform Kmart.

He needs to be sent packing. Edwards is out there and he'd come cheap. that's instant chemistry with Keenum. You normally can't buy that at any price at this point in an NFL season. What in the hell are the Texans waiting for?

Of course the same could be said of the decision to cut Bullock and bring back Graham or someone else.

Add Newton and Harris.

Wow, that's almost 20% of our roster that's complete garbage.

Default Re: Keshawn Martin

I was never really a fan of Martin. He only got drafted as a niche player (KR/Slot). Coming out of Michigan State he was the 2nd best WR on his team. B.J. Cunningham was a superior WR but did not have the speed that NFL teams covet. He has spent his NFL career on various practice squads and has been waived 2-3 times. The Eagles picked him up last month because they are decimated by injury at WR.

If the better WR on that team has been a fringe player in the NFL so far, what does that tell you about Martin?

Well what is the old formula? The top 20% of your roster is your core players and the guys you give the big money to. The next 60% is the role players and draft picks that have potential to get into that top 20%. They are the heart of the roster and what makes a good team great. The bottom 20% of your roster is your depth players and is always ever-changing. These guys only stick with a team for a year or two before moving on to the next.

Looks like we have a few guys who have overstayed their welcome.

Cutting Harris would be a mistake. He should be starting over Newton and playing every down his body can handle.

Otherwise I can find no fault with your list.

I meant Brandon Harris, mostly because I can't stand that we wasted a 2nd round pick on him. I want Ryan Harris starting over Newton and don't understand why Newton is even on this team.

Technically we wasted a 2nd and a 4th since we traded up for him.

It was a 3rd and 5th for the 2nd we used on Brandon Harris. Bust.
