I wouldn't be adverse to it. I really don't understand the reticence some people have about hiring this guy. He took Tony Dungy's team to the Super Bowl but he faced a Raiders team that he built when he got there. I think the guy has been successful and could be again.

Knapp? He lasted all of one season and was ripped apart for his play calling. The "magic" he did with TJ in 2011 was more Kubiak than him.

I would take Chucky in a heart-beat.

His passion for the game alone would improve the Texans.

If it were between Kubiak and gruden then gruden. But if this team has a chance for someone else then definately not gruden.

I'd take Chucky in a heartbeat. I think his demeanor would give this team an edge that they sorely need.

I'm not all the way done with Kubiak, but I'm getting very close. He needs to show that he's learned some things after all these years on the job.

He brings a fire that we have never had on the sidelines. He's been watching and taking notes for years now. I could see doing good here.

Me too. He's had a lot of time to study the evolution of the game, he talks about it all the time. He has been sitting down with guys entering the draft for awhile as well so you would think he has a good feeling for who alot of the guys in the league are personally. He brings a passion that we desperately need.

I think the fire he brings would elevate the level of play here for a little while. Maybe even win a Super Bowl with the talent we've got here.

& granted, the deal that brought him to Tampa Bay hamstrung him as far as the draft goes, but if the Texans had seasons like the Bucs last 4 seasons under Gruden, the pink soap would have his name on it.
Quote:
In the 2005 season, the Buccaneers celebrated their 30th season in the league, and returned to their winning ways.

The Bucs won the NFC South Division finishing 11–5. The season ended abruptly, however, with a 17–10 loss in the Wild Card round, in a rematch with the Redskins.

After winning the division in 2005, the Bucs suffered through an abysmal 2006 season.

The Bucs started off the season 0–3, with QB Chris Simms throwing only 1 touchdown to 7 interceptions.

Tim Rattay replaced Gradkowski as quarterback late in the season, and the team finished 4–12.

The offseason changes resulted in the Buccaneers winning the NFC South title in the 2007 season, finishing with a 9–7 record, and the 4th seed in the NFC.

In the Wild Card round of the playoffs held on January 6, 2008, the Buccaneers lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants by a final score of 24–14.

During the 2008 offseason, the Bucs re-signed head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen through the 2011 season.

The Bucs got off to a great start in 2008, with a 9–3 record going into the final month of the season, tied for first place in the division, with a chance at the top seed in the conference.
...the Buccaneers would lose the final four games of the season to finish 9–7 for the second consecutive season. Unlike 2007, it was not enough to secure the division championship, nor a playoff appearance.

The word mediocrity would be thrown around left & right. I'm not seeing the appeal.

How can you write these two statements in the same post?

You don't see the appeal of winning a superbowl?

Realized there's a missing link to the other nfl.com offer of coaches, sorry http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200...houston-texans

IMHO not to savy on other coach capabilities mentioned here but was never a real big fan of Kubiak and Schaub. Also the at the rate their going and/or have gone if your changing QB might as well consider a new coach to compliment the new scheme.

I would hire him in a NY minute... we'd still keep our WC concepts and unlike Kubiak, he has attitude and will hold people accountable.

Default Gruden: "I would like to give coaching one more try"

Per PFT, Gruden would like to give coaching "one more try":

Quote:
ďI would like to give coaching one more try,Ē Gruden said.

Gruden has made similar remarks in the past, but itís becoming likely that heíll ditch the ESPN broadcast booth for the sidelines sooner rather than later, especially since this is his fifth season out of the game. With so many of his former assistants already under contract with the Cowboys, speculation has persisted that Gruden could replace Jason Garrett in Dallas.

Regardless of the destination, Grudenís leverage could peak after the coming season, given the success of his former colleague in Green Bay, Chiefs coach Andy Reid. Reid has thrived a season after being booted by the Eagles, and the turnaround in Kansas City will make all members of the Fired Football Coaches Association more attractive, including the founder of the group.
It is looking like the East is Dallas', so I don't know that he ends up there, but it is interesting that he is allegedly eyeing a comeback. With the QB talent that is coming out in this draft, he could be a great grab for someone.

You notice how this happens when Texans are having a bad year. Cue Cowher in 3.2.1...
