Players are given over 30 options of thigh pads, including compression shorts with the pads in them or regular pads inserted into the uniform pants.

Here's how the enforcement of the rule works:

During warmups, NFL uniform inspectors will check to see if players are wearing the pads and inform a designated team person to relay the violation to the player. During a game, uniform inspectors will inform the team, who tells the back judge during a stoppage in play, informing the referee, who tells the head coach the player is ineligible to play until the pad violation is corrected.
All true but if look at AJ his "knee" pads are actually lower Quad pads because his knees are completely exposed.

I really liked how we kept him in the game when he was obviously limping. Did Kubiak learn that from Shanahan, too? You have 3 good receivers in Hopkins, Posey, and even K-mart. Nah, let's just keep AJ in and risk him getting seriously hurt. Hurrr.

It is obvious that it is easy for the pants, with the knee pads within, to ride up. The enforcement may indeed be "selective," especially for vets.

Obviously you've never suffered a substantial injury to the shin area. When my rodeo "career" ended, I was wearing shin pads. All I had to do was run to the gates after a ride. An NFL player has to run is ass off for 60-70 snaps.

With the way AJ was pulled from the game grossly limping the way he was, there is no way I can accept the fact that he did not incur a significant bone bruise. Kubiak, as country as he sounds, is sophisticated enough that he knows that using the term "xrays" does not include MRI findings. And in using that terminology, he cannot be accused of giving false info. Deceitful maybe, but not false. It seems like everything is a game when it comes to injuries.

I wish Kubiak could play the game plan game as well as he plays the injury report game. Maybe he could fool a few fans more than a handful of times a year.
