He's listed on the Texans website at 209 instead of 219 at the combine.

Now he didn't run a fast forty at the combine, but his other numbers show more burst than people tend to believe.

Check the numbers out at nfldraftscout.

D Manning may have ran a 4.48 at the combine (at 202lbs), but his ten-yd split was 1.62, as compared to 1.61 for Keo.

His 20SS time and 3-comes were 4.08 and 7.24
Keo's numbers were 3.9 and 6.55, both were quite superior to Manning's

Those three numbers combined with the weight loss tend to show an athelete with a quick short burst, which is what you want in a punt returner.
Interesting fact, Earl Mitchell's 10-yard split is 1.56.

Faster than both of them.

Big Earl returning punts?

Could be Keo is saving a gear that nobody has ever seen, not even himself ?
But seriously, maybe Keo is better than Martin when it comes to ball security, atleast that's how the coaching staff may very well feel and that's all that really counts, and ultimately the #1 priority for kick and punt return guys is hanging onto the ball.
But why all the abuse for Shiloh, why not be happy for a guy who is clearly not a superior physical specimen or gifted athlete, but apparently has overcome his physical limitations to perhaps carve out his own little niche in the NFL.

Yeah, Keo is just waiting in the wings and saying " I can't wait until Kubiak puts me in a real game and I show him what vision, moves and speed I have. Keo's dream is to make the roster as a ST player. Why risk your health by showing that skill in practice.:

Just heard that the 49ers are likely going to cut AJ Jenkins. Not posting that to say oooh let's pick him up, but I thought it was somewhat relevant to the Keyshawn Martin discussion.

His drop rate is 100% hahaha.

Quote:
Although healthy all season, Jenkins was active for only three of the 49ers 16 regular season games.[8] In his rookie regular season he played in only 37 offensive snaps and was targeted with a pass just once, which he dropped.

Wow. I remember thinking that was a bad draft choice, and the 49ers missed out on some good talent by taking this kid. Note to self, dont draft offensive players from Illinois.

I don't mind seeing Keo field punts in a meaningless game to get some experience under his belt in case he needs to be called in for emergency duty. But if this is a real deal to see if he can handle the primary PR duties, I scoff at the notion.

I have no idea how the two are even close to being related other than they both were drafted last year and play WR.

I'm pretty sure he's pointing out that you CAN cut a player you used a high draft pick on if he's not cutting it.

I wonder if they want to lighten Martin's load a bit to see what he can do with less responsibility on teams. And also to see some plan B's since Bonner has been missing some time with his hamstring. Hamstring issues are a bother because they heal when they heal and you can't tough your way through them. Body says run, leg says HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Wrong thread, but Demps just took back a Kickoff for a TD for the Chiefs........ The Eagles might as well let Maehl return kicks at this point. At least we can say we groom great returners.

Perhaps Martin may be having trouble earning a spot as just a WR & Shilo is having trouble earning a spot as just a Safety.

History has thus repeated itself. But when the lights go on in ~3 weeks, there better be historical separation from last year.

Actually, Martin's camp this year is MUCH better than last year. So it isn't just history happening again.

I think that some of the hype out of last year's camp was pro-Martin because Kubiak had to pick one of the rookies to feature, and he was the most consistent out of a very inconsistent group.

But seriously, in camp, Martin has looked much better than the non-Andre, DeAndre guys, and he was doing it a lot against first team defense.

I was surprised by his performance the first preseason game. He can't have that keep happening.

(As an aside, the only person who gets more angry at dropped balls than Kubiak is Hopkins. Very angry body language, even in drills).

This is getting ridiculous. When is enough, enough?

Fire Joe Marciano immediately. Non-stop poor assessment of special teams talent. Gave up the 2nd most yards on returns last year... I'm done.

I can be a super pessimist sometimes, but I'm starting to get this sinking feeling in my stomach that we are going to lose in the AFC championship game to the Broncos and the difference is going to be a T Holliday kick returned to the house.

Marciano and Martin/Keo/Manning/whoever, please prove me wrong or please have Marciano exit from the building.

Wasn't it Tommy Lasorda that once said something like "Nothing succeeds like failure. Marciano obviously sees himself as a successful disciple.

Since this is the part where we complain about Marciano:

Watch KC's special teams play at some point this season (pre or regular doesn't matter). Then think about how that was the same ST's coach (Dave Toub, who will probably come up for a HC job at some point) that was with Chicago with Lovie Smith for all those years they had excellent ST's.

Texans could've probably landed that guy too if they had wanted, if he's successful, the team would be highly successful and would probably speed up a possible promotion. This is my biggest complaint from the offseason, is that we didn't ****can Marciano and hire that guy.
