Quick, good vision, great balance, great hands. Gets to second gear immediately, gets to the edge fast, finishes plays strong. He can make people miss, but seems to enjoy the contact.

The good thing about the video linked above is that it highlights his blocking. He's good at spotting the blitz, but can't physically buy much time for his QB. At 2:09, he gets about 17 yards on a draw play on 3rd and 10.
His runs in the 4th quarter was awesome and almost MJD-like. He shows a real willingness to chip and/or take on a guy one on one. Very impressive.

But he's just so damned short.

I'm actually rooting for that guy. Even if he doesn't win the #3 spot this year, he has a shot next year after Tate likely gets signed somewhere else.

Johnson is the RB I've had my eye on since the day he signed. He's my pick to be RB3.

PDS ‏@PatDStat 5m
Deji Karim joining in on KRs. #Texans

James Palmer ‏@JPalmerCSN 11m
Alec Lemon again with the catch of the day. Leaping grab at the sideline over a defender. Not fast but great hands. #texans

Tough catch by Lemon on the sideline. Out of bounds but good catch. #Texans

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli 15m
DeAndre Hopkins has been good today. Made some mistakes, but overall his best day. #Texans

Dave Zangaro ‏@DZangaro 2m
Today's been rough for TJ Yates and Case Keenum. Schaub's been the best QB but he hasn't been good. #TexansTalk

PDS ‏@PatDStat 3m
#Texans working on the screen game. TEs and RBs involved. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 5m

PDS ‏@PatDStat 10m

Greg Bailey ‏@GregBailey13 11m
Biggest plays from practice belong to DeAndre Hopkins. 2 things standout: ability to go get the ball. Can really stop and start. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 12m
Poor pass by Schaub there by missing Griffin wide open. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 13m
Kareem Jackson nice coverage getting on top of Hopkins on a deep route. #Texans

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli 15m
Defense wins this second set of 11 on 11s. #Texans

Stephanie Stradley ‏@StephStradley 15m
A bread and butter Schaub-Martin slant didn't work bc Watt timed arms up to disrupt passing lane. Not a stat, difference making

James Palmer ‏@JPalmerCSN 17m
Next pass, Keenum throws it away on top of the tent. Defense stepping up. #texans

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli 18m
First pick of the day: Brandon Harris picks off TJ Yates. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 18m
Brandon Harris with the pick. Lemon waited for the ball and TJ with the late throw. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 21m
Antonio Smith showing some pass rush moves. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 23m
McGee has been inconsistent today passing. Some high and some low to his intended receivers. #Texans

Stephanie Stradley ‏@StephStradley 25m
Not a stat but something Watt is great at...jumping up at key time and causing QB to pull ball down. He just did that to Schaub

PDS ‏@PatDStat 26m
Dobbins with some good coverage on Daniels. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 27m
Wouldn't you know that would have been a Cushing sack on Schaub. Pass protection broke down. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 28m
Cushing on the field for the team session. Good to see. #Texans

James Palmer ‏@JPalmerCSN 31m
Mercilus still being held out of practice. #texans

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli 34m
Other QBs went a collective 1 for 6 with one near interception. #Texans

Dave Zangaro ‏@DZangaro 35m
The Texans are practicing kick returns. Bonner, Martin and Manning getting turns.

Stephanie Stradley ‏@StephStradley 35m
@LanceZierlein Kubiak told me that they'd to a variety of read option looks for D but wasn't going to run it bc not how they're built

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli 38m
Schaub went 3 for 4 in 11 on 11s. Dobbins would've sacked him on the incompletion. #Texans

James Palmer ‏@JPalmerCSN 38m
Sam Montgomery still out and on the bike. #texans pic.twitter.com/cCC27KU635

Lance Zierlein ‏@LanceZierlein 38m
Texans ran their entire scrimmage out of Pistol formation but Texans insist it is just a look for their defense to see.

Dave Zangaro ‏@DZangaro 39m
Brian Cushing was just cheered as he ran to the porta-potty. Open practice is fun.

Stephanie Stradley ‏@StephStradley 39m
Real game, Braman would have killed him deaded that play. MT @MarkBermanFox26: Keenum shows what he can do with his legs

PDS ‏@PatDStat 39m

PDS ‏@PatDStat 44m
Brandon Harris playing strong today. Stopped the initial read for Keenum. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 47m
It has been Hopkins day today. Manning can't handle Hopkins one on one. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 47m
#Texans really testing Jefferson. Have him working with the big boys. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 56m
Hopkins put on a show. Won every matchup vs. JJo. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 57m
Bonner has made some strides since OTAs. Makes it tough on DBs to cover him. #Texans

PDS ‏@PatDStat 59m
Martin and Harris a good matchup. Back and forth in 1 on 1s. #Texans

Dave Zangaro ‏@DZangaro 1h

Some thoughts:
My mock guy ND Cierre Wood (RB) not demanding a roster spot.
My mock guy Brandon Harris (CB)seems to be looking better in his 3rd year.
I'm very pleased with what I hear about Keenum.
Would like to hear more info on our nose tackles.

Thanks to all reporting info to MB.

My thoughts on the above comments.

Reason why Kubiak is being asked about Dennis Johnson is that in camp in particular he has stood out. In yesterday's AM practice there was a play he did going into the endzone where he showed incredible power and balance and speed at the same time.

I'm not buying that TJ v. Case is a real thing. Kubiak is asked a lot about case and he wants to push TJ. Both TJ and Case had a meh preseason last year.

The good news is that both TJ and Case look better this season. All the QBs had a difficult day today and Kubiak wasn't pleased by that. JJ Watt was causing all sorts of mischief. Others too, but Watt was nuts.

Dennis Johnson's reel from Arkansas vs Ole Miss 2012: Link

Quick, good vision, great balance, great hands. Gets to second gear immediately, gets to the edge fast, finishes plays strong. He can make people miss, but seems to enjoy the contact.

The good thing about the video linked above is that it highlights his blocking. He's good at spotting the blitz, but can't physically buy much time for his QB. At 2:09, he gets about 17 yards on a draw play on 3rd and 10.
That'll come in really handy!
