tbqh... I think she was getting what she could get before it wasn't worth it. Being a socialite/trophy wife in Houston sounds a lot more glamorous than being one in Buffalo.

Take her to Judge Judy! She'll make her give the ring back.
No wedding, no ring.

Some things are cheaper to rent. At $785k she would fall into that category.

The man just signed a 90 million dollar contract and he is worried about that ?

Wont matter anyways, that was a "gift" to her in the eyes of the law. He wont be getting the ring or any money out of this lawsuit.

Thanks for your incorrect analysis when the law has already been supplied. Do people actually read threads anymore or just thread titles?

For the life of me, I don't get all the Mario hate. If you think he isn't any good, he's not here anymore, and someone else is paying him.

In this particular case, I hope he gets back every last penny of that 785K.

Mario had better not ever get engaged again. Think about what she will expect when he gave this broad a $785,000, 10-carat diamond engagement ring!

Hmm, I reckon I was wrong too. I just always thought it was considered a "conditional marriage" in Texas if the couple were together or living together for a certain amount of time. Meaning it would be hers or divided among the two.

I didn't know about the conditional gift stuff. Learn something new every day, I reckon

For "common law" marriage in TX I believe the couple has to live together and also claim to be married. Just Living together isn't enough. I believe in CA just a single claim
Of being married like checking into a hotel as mr and mrs is enough, as I vaguely remember an escort suing for divorce from one of her rich johns who checked them into a hotel as mr and mrs

CA does not recognize common law marriage within the state. There is a process for recognizing such marriages from states like Texas which have common law marriage.

Soooo, if the engagement ring is considered a gift, and she gets to keep it, does she have to pay gift tax on the value of the ring?

This board seems to have a trend on hating former players, even if they were cut or traded against their will.

The Jacoby hate I can understand. Mario hate? Eric Winston hate? It is about as old as the VY and Reggie hate.

It's also HIS money to spend as he sees fit. No one else's.

Always amazes me when people try to spend someone else's money.

according to most courts of law an engagement ring is conditionary. And ending the engagement nullifies the contract and ya have to give the ring back.

I do not perceive anyone trying to spend his money. And even if they were, I'm not sure what is so amazing about it. But that's just me.

And yes, it is his dough and his right to spend it however he wants to spend it.

That being said, we are also free to express our opinions on how many of us perceive he foolishly spends that money.
