There are wackos and loons every where but don't try to make this out to be like there were rows of fans lined up ready to burn crap in his yard. If he was truly scared he would have hired security or asked the team to take other precautionary measures.

Jones needed a change, just like Brad Lidge did - although Jones didn't (and still hasn't) shown nearly the ability that Lidge did.

I've got no problem with his playoff success in Baltimore, and I don't care if he goes on to be the next Jerry Rice - he needed to be somewhere other than Houston. The only problem I have with him telling that to the Texans is they should have beat him to the punch.
Ok.

And yes I agree. Although we could've used his return ability.

This morning on the radio I heard johnny mac declare the texans WILL select a wr and rt with their first 2 picks (no particular order.) This guy hasn't been relevant since he lost all his sources with the oilers.

The same McLame that stated that Mario was the Texans #1 priority despite multiple sources saying it would practically be impossible due to the salary cap issues. Come to find out, courtesy of Mario, they never even offered him a deal. So much for being the #1 priority. McLame can't even figure out the obvious despite being a Texan "insider". It's a shame we have to deal w/ this type of "reporting".

Thumbs up Re: John McClain on SportsTalk today...

I don't blame Jacoby a bit for leaving the Texans, and in his position I would've done the very same. I am very glad he did! No matter how he played here in Houston he would've been booed and jeered. It was time for him to move on.

He is now playing for a town that doesn't hate him near as bad, and on top of that he now has a SB ring...........and his play in the playoffs was key to making it happen. Best thing that could've happened to the Ravens.

Win win situation for Jacoby, and I am happy for him!

I find it funny that McClain is commenting on a year old story as if he just got breaking insider news that noone else has heard. Poor guy. Its just mean the way Texans play with this guy.

Let's get real here. If the Texans didn't want to cut Jones, they would not have cut him. They wanted him gone for whatever reason (mistakes, lack of development at WR, public relations). The Texans aren't going to cut a player just because their agent requests it.

Where's the McClain face palm?

As a football player Jacoby makes a pretty good dancer.

I'm happy he had a great playoff run, but what he did here was like what Bucky Dent did in the World Series a decade or more ago now.

I mean stupid, stupid stuff. More mental than physical. I can overlook a physical error, but you've got to be using your brain or you need to go somewhere else.

Jacoby Jones was instrumental in winning playoff games (plural) for Baltimore. It is indisputable. You can diminish him, but stack up every Houston wide out ever- nobody has ever made a bigger impact in the playoffs than Jacoby Jones did last year.

Sadly, that wasn't due to anything other than him being considered a low threat. When the passes he caught could contend well with a punter's hang-time, he wasn't exactly a sharp route runner caught in stride.

Using him as a deep-threat on mostly fly routes is what I'd hoped the Texans were leaving him at. He failed miserably when they tried to make him a #2, much less a #1. The Ravens saw what we saw several years ago...let him stretch the field and catch deep routes. He wasn't good for many other patterns.

It's not sour grapes, it's an honest evaluation.

He was instrumental in Baltimore's playoff win the previous year, as well.

Well you can disagree but the defense played just fine the entire game. We were losing 7-3 five minutes into the game. In part because all we could get on our opening drive starting at the balt 41 was a FG and the other because of Jones muffed punt. Then couple that with a 35 yard punt and a ravens FG we were down 10-3 9 min into the game. Then yates was almost picked by Lewis but Dre broke it up and that was 3 and out. 3 and out for balt. Yates int gives the ball to balt at the hou 34 +7 points to 17-3. Hou FG 17-6. Balt 3 and out. Texans TD 17-13. Balt gets 2 first downs and then punts. Half. Balt 3 and out. Hou 3 and out. balt 3 and out. Hou missed 50 yard FG. Balt 2 first downs and a punt. Hou 3 and out. Balt 3 and out. Hou 1 first down and punt. Balt 3 and out. Hou INT @ balt 29. Balt FG 20-13. Hou INT @ balt 4. Balt 3 and out. Houston 3 and out.

Im not a Jones fan but I can see it was Yates, Jones and our kicking that cost us the game not a single person

Yates played a key role in the loss, but I lay a lot of that blame at the feet of the offensive guru HC who took the ball out of the All Pro RB's hands & put the game in the hands of the 3rd string rookie QB. Needless to say, that was a foolish move. Kubiak holds some blame as he nuetralized Arian when the Ravens could not & allowed Yates to commit multiple turnovers that most teams cannot recover from. Jacoby made a mistake or 2, but it was not the nail in the coffin by any means imo.
