He made $7.2 million plus another ??million?? last year.

The worst thing about this is not necessarily that he didn't sign, it's that we're left hanging in limbo and are essentially unable to make any more moves until he either signs or walks away (or we decide to pursue other options).

Well, if Rick's not willing to overpay for Reed, then I'm happy. I'd like to have him, but not for more than about 4 million a year. I think he's looking for 6+, and I just don't think this team can offer that much.

Yes they were. This is a completly different situation.

Unless we get Charles Woodson right now similar to how we netted Joseph, it would make sense.

But as of right now, we are at a stand still while Ed Reed holds our cap space hostage.

RT @mikegarafolo: Ravens getting involved in talks with Reed. Much as they've lost guys, they won't let him walk w/o a fight.

This should not be the case. The Texans should know how much is available to them right now & how much they can free up if they need to. They should plan to spend somewhere between those two figures, if it makes this a better team.

Regardless what happens with Reed, we need an ILB, an OLB, an OT, a WR or two, a FB...... & just because we bring players in doesn't mean we need to sign them. We should be shopping just as much as the FAs are.

Reed did mention that he'd like to win a SB with either AJ, Wayne, or Gore.

The Colts signed Landry and the Niners signed Delmas.

I remain very positive.
I don't think money is an issue.
Reed's agent is also Schaub's agent.
The two sides should know the numbers beforehand;
They probably just need to work out all the details.

Not a good business stragety.
Or maybe we are letting other teams sign other safeties, thus weakening the market for Reed.

In the end, is it really a big deal if we don't get Reed? We have gone from being OK with Glover at safety to saying we can't play without him, and saying Reed is washed up and a waste of money to saying we can't play without him, all in the course of a few weeks!

Who said that?

Losing our own guys and losing out on FA like Reed while AFC rivals like Broncos, Patriots and Colts are getting better is making me pissed as a Texans fan.

This would be a major egg in the face of the front office. Just makes us look like a laughing stock.

Flacco vs Schaub cap hits

2013 $ 6.8 vs $11.7

I don't get why people keep saying that. We'd be a laughing stock for not giving an aging FA ridiculous money?

I would like to see us sign Reed too, but only if the contract amount and length is right for us. Its more important to re-sign Cushing and Watt then it is to get Reed here.
