No, they couldn't give up 6m in salary for him. The Ravens probably didn't want to help an AFC team out by giving him away on the cheap. They also won't be playing the NFC West next year, so they don't have to see him, unless they meet in the Super Bowl again.

Seems like the Texans would have benefited by cutting Kevin Walter's $5 million and trading, say, a 4th round pick for him. Assuming he's making $8 or so million, then it would be a legit #2 receiver for a net cost of $3 million and a 4th round pick

Boldin's cap for the Ravens would have been $7.531. Now San Fran will take on $6 mil and the Ravens will have $1.531 in dead money.

Tanks- forgot about the 1.5 dead money. With Cundiff still on the books, its 3 mill in dead money for the Ravens.
