( Of course I hope for better) The reason I want Schaub's replacement is that Doc said this past yr is as good as Schaub's foot is going to get and after seeing other players suffer the same injury I believe this to be the case. The Texans cant win a SB with Schaub at QB.

The problem is there's not a good QB is this draft, or at least they all have significant warts and are a big gamble. I think we may have to wait until next years draft or flip some picks to Wash for Cousins. I'd take Cousins over anyone in this years draft. He's looked good in both games he's played in this year.

Bray can be a franchise QB. IMHO

34 TD's 12 ints 3500 yds passing.

Strong arm, decent accuracy, although Bray isn't a runner, he navigates the pocket well.

Footwork and leadership issues (They are very overrated IMHO)

Jonathan Franklin has been my sleeper RB all year and nothing has changed after the Senior Bowl. Really want the Texans to draft this kid. Either him or Stephan Taylor.

Ironically enough, I became a big Patton fan the night of the A&M - LA Tech game. This guy is money. He absolutely shredded the A&M secondary.

We've got some good young prospects to step in for Antonio after he departs like Tim Jamison & Jared Crick. Anyway don't you think it's about time we look to an edge-rusher to take up the slack in pressuring the QB ? The idea of our "2 top" pass-rushers being downlineman in our 3-4 just doesn't make much sense to me ? I'd rather see them use a high-pick on another OLB even with Merciless & Reed than I would a first-rounder on a 3-4 DE.

Texans more often than not configure in a 4-3 not traditional 3-4 so he could play DE while Antonio kicks to DT. Texans spent #26th overall in last years draft on OLB Whitney Mercilus, Brooks the year before #42 in 2nd. Watt, a DE was taken #11 overall in 2011. As I framed it Jones can either bookend Watt 3-4 or replace Barwin 4-3. Athletic monster to compliment Watt he uses his quickness inside, has natural strength/strong hands, and shows desirable passion for football. Datone seems to flash a lot of juice, doesn't take plays off, is explosive, has exceptional rip move, strong base to plant & bull rush. In reality he is one of those ascending prospects come Day One this April probably already off the board.

Jones is a dynamic pass rusher. He plays with alot of heart and would be a perfect fit in Wades version of a 3-4 or 4-3 on passing downs.

As BL said after the Sr Bowl/Combine he probably will be gone at 27.

I did not realize Datone Jones was at the game Saturday, don't recall his name being called ? But wow, how about Ezekiel Ansah, that guys a wild & crazy Ghanan ! He took over the SB game Saturday, often. OK yea he'd be a project, but what a physical freak ?

This is accurate, BL and I like your mock. I followed Datone and he is good but I have him rated top 22. Ansah should be there & I like him better as OLB. I rated both as having 5 better than avg plays in Senior Bowl. Patton should be very good.

Not as dominant as Ezekial Ansah but solid nevertheless more in the mold of last years 21st overall pick Chandler Jones. Has short area quickness, ability to stack & shed blockers with regularity. Impressive interview & rocked up @ weigh-in with proverbial bubble butt. Very intriguing, fast rising, pass rushing prospect to keep an eye on.

2nd Rd. Quinton Patton, WR, 6'0" 202, Louisiana Tech

Patton was impressive all week in practice & showed out on special teams & blocking down field. Reminds me of Steve Smith. Solid build, fluid, positive body language, always works to the ball doesn't just wait for the ball to come to him. Also like Aaron Dobson, Marshall good looking WR prospect but doubt will have same productivity as Patton (eye candy). Ideal size, good week of practice just a step behind Terrance Williams, good value end of 2nd. Looking for combination of biggest impact to offense & ability to easily transition into the NFL without the growing pains. Texans need to add impact receiver early in either round one or two with record number of underclassman highly rated @ WR position this should help push a good one like Patton to Texans.

3rd. Rd. Brandon Williams, NT, 6'2" 341, Missouri Southern

Secret is out now. Like a bowling bowl mowing down pins for strikes he overwhelms blockers with stunning hand punch, brute force & leverage using explosive first step to gain advantage. Would compliment Earl Mitchell who is similar in stature & added weight last off season to 308 who was forced into starting role with injury's to free agent Shaun Cody. This is a critical need that should be addressed & Brandon offers Texans skill set they will covet.

3rd. Rd. (compensatory pick for Mario): BW Webb, CB, 5'10" 183, William & Mary

Fluid hips, quick feet able to change & redirect position. Great fit for nickle to replace injured free agent Brice McCain. Has some ball hawk skills possess good hands & does a nice job returning punts. If corner was a bigger need I would look @ Trufant or Poyer in the first round but other than loss via free agency Texans are pretty set outside with Jackson & Joseph. BW would create a nice addition to secondary & worth a 2nd day selection.

4th rd. Hugh Thornton, OG, 6'3" 313, Illinois

Would love to add Larry Warford but he looks like a 2nd rd. pick to me. I noticed Thornton execute a nice cut block on a nice red zone TD ran by Franklin so I'm sold even though he doesn't look like a natural knee bender. Plays with some nasty demeanor too like Brisiel. Would upgrade depth across the OL while in direct competition to win the starting RG position.

5th Rd. Michael Williams, TE, 6'5" 272, Alabama
Primarily thought of as a traditional in line blocking TE but displayed soft, reliable hands one in fact over his shoulder catch for the South first TD. He probably helped himself move higher one round which should be reason why all Senior players offered the chance to compete in Mobile should accept, anyone who doesn't maybe has something to hide? Williams would provide much needed pass protection off the edge, another down field blocker & red zone target.

5th. Rd. (compensatory pick for Mike Brisiel) Jonathan Cyprien, S, 6'0 210 Florida International
Fine looking prospect capable of playing either safety position. Good size & closing speed his stock will probably soar after this week based off measureables & his steady climb to first team Sun Belt saftey after two seasons on 2nd team. Played on same team with TY Hilton & quickly ascend to 3rd safety for Texans which means a lot of reps as a rookie.

5th. Rd. (compensatory pick for Joel Dresseen) Jeff Locke, P, 6'0" 208 UCLA
Booms his punts with excellent hang time & distance (52.4 yard average). Anger was selected in the 3rd rd. last year by the Jags & was one of their few bright spots. Coaches/scouts during practices commented when hearing the boom on contact with football he reminded them of Bryan Anger, upgrading special teams cannot be that tough but Marciano or next special teams coach must have some commitment in their own talent pool, Donnie Jones was merely another stop gap.

6th. Rd. Kyle Juszczyk, FB, 6'1" 250
Smart, physical excellent in pass pro & creating seams. Type of player you want on your side, in the trenches, high character, work ethic best blocker Senior Week in practice. Texans have another chance to improve a position late in the draft all they need to do is commit to change.

7th. Rd. Robbie Rouse, RB 5'7" 190, Fresno State

Hard to find load with explosive cuts can run inside the tackles. Huge thighs very hard to wrap around or trip up with lower center of gravity, had career rushing total of 4,625 yards, this past season added 58 receptions out of the backfield, could be this years version of Alfred Morris taking some of the pressure/reps off Foster.

7th. Rd. (compensatory pick for Jason Allen) Vince Williams, ILB, 6'1" 250, Florida State
Thumper with attitude in Seminole tradition. Best inside LB in Mobile this week who had a much lower grade coming in but think he moved up based off performance. Strong willing body who shoots gaps & not afraid to take on guards, in a thin crop he has risen & value is smart play late in the day.

Its tough to do a Senior only mock. Props to you for trying it!!!

1. Great selection, but as you said in your last line, "fast rising, pass rushing prospect to keep an eye on", he may get too high for Htown. QB, guy who protects the QB(LT) and guy who puts pressure on the QB tend to get drafted based on projection. I could see a team like New Orleans, take a flier on him.

2. Patton has been shooting up the draft boards. the small school prospect showed he belonged with the big school boys. Would be a great 2nd rounder. I would certainly consider him in the second, though I would be curious which over WRs may be available here.

3. Williams is a great selection and I love this pick. Your bowling ball reference is great. Initially the person who reminded me of a bowling ball was Mister Cobble. Problem was, whereas Williams was knocking down pins, CObble was sitting in the gutter too many times for comfort.

3. I like the idea, however I wonder if Trufant would be a better pick in the 1st. Kareem had a great year last year, but i think he would make a better Saftey. As a safety he could use his tackling and pass defelction skills better and wouldn't have to worry about WRs zipping by him. Move Jackson to S, and plug Trufant in at CB2 opposite Joseph?

4. Thornton looks like a good ZBS potential OG. I am concenred with some flexibility, but lateral and downfield movement look good. Some of his lack of knee bend may be sloppiness and coaching. Playing with a mean streak would be good for this team. Only thing is, I would prefer a bigger OG. Can he put on some more weight? I am tried of the Texans OL getting pushed around because they are relatively light.

5. REALLY like Williams, but his soft hands may have sent him shooting up the boards. He is already the best run blocker for a TE/FB/HB in the class. Having the ability to pass catch now means he could be used as a TE or a FB. Versatility means he may go up to late 3rd/4th rounder now. But, shoot, if he is here, I'd take him.

5. Solid choice. I don't see him competing for a Saftey starting spot and looks like depth/ Special teams to me. Still. getting anything for a 5th rounder supplemental is fantastic. I'd take it!

6. Reminds me of Casey in that he can catch and block well. Not an elite blocker nor elite pass catcher. Better blocker than Casey, though not quite as good of a pass catcher. I think the FB should be more of a blocker anyway. Combine him with Williams and watch out!

7. Afraid to say, I don't know enough about him. Will defer. I like the idea of a late round RB to keep the well full. Is Kubiak smart enough to use him?

I have not seen enough footage of him to tell me he can handle the passign game. Perhaps he can with coaching. That said, I'd think long and hard about him in the 7th, though his best position may Cush's.

Jones showed a striking physique and carried that momentum over to the practice field. He showed excellent short-area burst off the edge, winning with strength and quickness at the point of attack. He is very strong from head to toe and does a nice job using his powerful arms and hands to rip past blockers. He wasn't overly productive as a pass rusher at UCLA, largely due to the fact that he was moved all over the Bruins' hybrd 3-4 scheme, but he did record 19 tackles for loss as a senior with his impressive blend of burst and power to dispose of blockers at the point of attack. It's tough to classify him at one position, but his scheme versatility will make him an attractive prospect for hybrid defenses like in New England. Jones is a name that will start to appear in first round mock drafts moving forward.

In a talented safety group, Florida International's Jonathan Cyprien stood out during practice with his aggressive playing style and active demeanor. He practiced at full speed and left it all out on the field, not shying away from getting physical. Whether it was a contact drill or not, Cyprien is going to meet the ballcarrier with a pop, refusing to let up. He is a smart player and scouts were impressed with his football awareness near the line of scrimmage and in the deep half of the field. With Kenny Vaccaro (Texas) and D.J. Swearinger (South Carolina) deciding to skip Mobile, Cyprien looked like the top player at his position at this year's Senior Bowl.

If we drafted Jones and I were wade, I would seriously consider trying him at ILB. Reminds me off a steelers old linebacker who's name slips my mind right now. It's going to drive me crazy now.

My thoughts exactly. I think Datone could have been top 15 selection if he had been allowed to play one position. OLB would be his forte imo. Cyprian looks really good but is more of an in the box near LOS safety than in coverage. I'd rather have one that could do both, probably a converted corner.

lest not get too carried away with Datone, before the Senior Bowl he was listed by most sites (yeah I know) around in time for Texans 2nd rd. pick so he took quite the leap based off 4 days of practice & what amounted to one scrimmage.

I can't really decide which I covet more a safety or cb? If Texans lose Quin & McCain they are going to address both, hence the picks, early to late middle. DBs: Darius Slay a corner who would play well but be very good safety in 3rd and Terry Hawthorne a cover type CB who could play safety in 5th. He probably will move up after combine.

If he's a 5 tech, he'll be replacing Watt.... or subing for Watt, he won't really be a "bookend" opposite Watt. What we need is a dynamic 3 tech, which is what Antonio plays.

Unless you plan on using this big guy as a big WOLB (like Mario) he'll disappear inside, unless he's like Antonio & just another breed all together.

interchangeable parts, versatility per position are intangible assets that increase a players value to a team.

Datone Jones is one of the top Defensive Linemen available in this year’s draft. He possesses an NFL ready frame, with excellent playing strength and bulk. He can play multiple positions along the defensive line and exhibits power pass rush moves from all of them. He has good quickness for his size, but his strength is his best tool. He plays with good leverage and is able to simply out muscle and overpower linemen.

At the Senior Bowl he showed much more violent hands which led to him being the most dominate defender in Mobile. Jones is still a bit raw as a pass rusher and will get better as he develops more pass rush moves. If needed he could add 10-15 pounds and move inside to 3-Tech where I believe he could develop into a stud as a pass rushing defensive tackle. Jones is a high-character individual, overcoming tough surroundings and circumstances to become a top prospect.

He is a focused and driven person, understanding schemes and defensive philosophies very well. As a prospect Jones’ combination of power, speed and pass rush potential will make him a top five defensive end prospect for the 2013 draft.

Still in evaluation process coming off Combine performances but can update "Post Senior Bowl" dated mock with new info, hope some of you find insightful & how to tweak the process but tape still factors heavily for me.

1st. Rd. Datone Jones, DE/OLB, 6'4" 280, UCLA
Ranked 19th overall prospect & #4 DE in the draft by Rang. 6-4 283 lbs, 32 3/4" arm length & 10" hands. He ran impressive 4.80 forty (Watt ran 4.84). repped out 29 on bench (Watt 34). He's done nothing to change my mind & still my bpa if on the board #27.

2nd Rd. Quinton Patton, WR, 6'0" 202, Louisiana Tech

Ranked 41st overall prospect & #6th WR by Rang. 6-0 204, also 32 3/4" arms, 9 3/8" hands, only 8 reps. He ran his forty in 4.53, it's a deep class & still feel he could be available when Texans pick in the 2nd rd.

3rd. Rd. Brandon Williams, NT, 6'2" 341, Missouri Southern

Ranked 74th overall prospect & #8 in his DT class by Rang. Measured only -1 & 335 lbs. Average hand size 9 3/4" did 36 reps displaying strength as expected arm length decent 32 5/8". don't really care about his forty 5.3 more interested in his 10 yard split (unknown). Seems like early to mid 3rd rd prospect to me, very hard to be certain where he lands or how Texan Big Board ranks his skill set for Wade. Ranked 93rd overall prospect & #13 CB in class. Was impressive once again to me running his forty 4.51, 5-10 & 184 lbs. What did jump out on tape showed itself with over 40" vertical & 11ft. Broad. Explosive & decisive in drills. Solid 3rd rd. pick.

4th rd. Hugh Thornton, OG, 6'3" 313, Illinois

Added 7 lbs to 320 measured 6-3, ran decent 5.11 had really plus arm length 34 1/8". Solid core strength 27 reps good hand size 10" shuttle 4.63 (Brooks 4.52). Ranked 176th overall & #8th best OG prospect according to Rang & 5th rd. grade, but still feel off the board by time Texans would select so reason why he is in the 4th. Like his toughness & wrestling background.

5th Rd. Michael Williams, TE, 6'5" 272, Alabama
Have no idea why he wasn't invited to the combine? Ranked 228th overall prospect & 13th TE but to me he is a top 5 blocking TE with ability to start immediately. Strongly disagree with his 6th-7th rd. projection but that is good news for fans of his & Texans.

5th. Rd. (compensatory pick for Mike Brisiel) Jonathan Cyprien, S, 6'0 210 Florida International
Draft stock sky rocketed too high for my taste, 42nd overall? #2 SS prospect in the draft? 4.56 forty, 38.5 vert @ 6-0 217 lbs pretty impressive. However I will have to adjust & change to John Boyett, Oregon 5-10 204 ran 4.4 forty with 27 reps.

5th. Rd. (compensatory pick for Joel Dresseen) Jeff Locke, P, 6'0" 208 UCLA
Ranked 296th & 4th Punter in the draft by Rang.

6th. Rd. Kyle Juszczyk, FB, 6'1" 250
Ranked 163rd overall & #2 FB in the draft according to Rang.

7th. Rd. Robbie Rouse, RB 5'7" 190, Fresno State
RB rankings are trash. There is so much value, the perception is why even bother spending a pick on one? 373rd rated prospect & 27th on the board. Yet @ the combine he ranked 11th in the short shuttle 4.25, tied for 6th in 60 yard shuttle 11.56, tied for 12th in 3 cone 6.97, 12th vert 34". For comparable Alfred Morris vert last year was 35.5" 3 cone 7.01, 4.19 short shuttle & 11.86 60 yard shuttle.

7th. Rd. (compensatory pick for Jason Allen) Vince Williams, ILB, 6'1" 250, Florida State
Ranked 249th & 10th overall ILB prospect by Rang. Good value & still solid selection but have upgraded need/player coming in next version.

I just want to say I could care less about the process. I don't ever want to do a mock draft, as I have no interest in the college game. I've tried, but just can not generate the interest, until this time of the year.

I look through these mocks to learn the players, to get a feel for what we "fans" think about our team, and it helps me make up my mind on how the Texans did in the draft.

Would you play this guy as the UT in a 4-3?
