Not really.

On Wednesday, the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation gave the green light for the purchase of two high definition LED displays.

The new LED scoreboards will stand more than 52 feet tall and span 277 feet wide. As of now, Houston is the only NFL team without a digital scoreboard. With the new boards averaging a cost of $15.5 million, the boards will be installed where the current scoreboards are located, just in time for the 2013 NFL season and the 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™.

Texans owner Bob McNair and the Houston Livestock Show and Road would reportedly pay for the new displays and then be reimbursed by Reliant.

No doubt. The fact that the 300 & 500 sections are running close to $90 a ticket is ridiculous. Even if there is s waiting list, most on it probably don't realize the 1st year cost is quite a bit. PSL price, which is normally not sold at face value any longer, season ticket cost & then add parking, most on that waiting list would probably disappear once they got slammed w/ all that.

Questions as i am not a season ticket holder:

1. When buying season tickets, are you forced to buy preseason also or can you just buy the regular season?

2. If you buy the season tickets do you get a discount per ticket or are you paying full price per ticket?

3. If you are buying preseaon, are they discounted tickets or full price?

4. Do you have to buy a PSL to be a season ticket holder? Do they have to be renewed yearly? Do you have to pay a yearly fee for them?

5. How much does a parking pass cost? Are there discounts for buying for the season?

6. Assuming you could sit in the same section each time, what is the advantage of being a season ticket holder vs just buying tickets to each game?

Season tickets or PSLs you have to buy the whole season including pre-season.

There is no discount for season ticket holders.

Pre-season costs the same as regular season.

No you do not have to have a PSL to be a season ticket holder but it controls what section you can be in.

Parking pass cost depends on which lot and is often only open to season ticket/PSL holders.

Assuming you could sit in the same section would be a grossly bad assumption. My PSLs are on the front row field level Texans side. There is no way you could have guaranteed sitting anywhere close and I checked - similar seats were going for 4+ times face value. Now I paid full face value through 2-14 as well. We know the folks around us. The security know us - in a good way - no ticket checks, etc. I can stretch my legs out to full extension and watch the game. It's just a trade-off.

Actually, if you go through the Houston Texans to get your tickets (i.e. stay on the waiting list) you pay the PSL price that was originally set depending on the section &/or level. If you don't want to wait you can buy PSLs through the PSL marketplace and that's where you can pay a heavier price.

What sucks for the people on the waiting list is if your name comes up and you decide at that time you don't have the available $$ to get your tickets your name is dropped. You can add your name at the bottom, though. My brother was contacted by the Broncos in 2010 to say his name was at the top of their list and if he wanted tickets he had a week to pay. He put his name on the list in 1993. He now lives in San Diego, but still got the tickets. He gets to go back there once or twice a year to watch games. To him it's worth it.

Our list isn't as long as theirs, but if you want the PSLs at a better price you have to jump when they say jump.

Also, PSLs don't have to be renewed, but if you don't renew your tickets (i.e. pay the invoices) or purchase the playoff tickets you lose your PSL.

I guess it depends on who you buy your tickets from for each game. Since I've had season tickets for the entire ride, I don't know what the Texans have available each game/how hard they are to get/etc. Getting them from anywhere else is going to cost you so the advantage to season tickets would be that you get your same seat always at face value.

And a note on the PSLs. Certain parts of the stadium require that you get a PSL - the entire lower bowl, for example. You can't get season tickets in section 108 and not get a PSL. I'm only aware of the upper sections of the stadium being the only place you can get season tickets without a PSL, like me for example, sec. 547.

Meh.. While ticket price hikes suck (and FTR, I hate price increases -they suck!!), I suspect the Texans will fall middle of the pack when it comes to overall gameday costs. Much ado about nothing.

My comment concerning PSL's not being at face value is in reference to the fact that very rarely do PSL's come available thru the Texans at that original value. They are normally sold by the holder for a profit & rightfully so. Anyone who chooses to give their PSL's up to the Texans for nothing would be a complete fool. Which also explains why the list keeps growing w/ very few opportunities to obtain them thru the Texans. If you want PSL's & tickets immediately, your best bet is to buy them off of an individual at a premium. As I said earlier, you can make a pretty penny selling your PSL & it would foolish to give them back for nothing to the Texans. I've been thru the process & the initial investment is a costly one that most don't realize.

Middle of the pack compared to multiple states where their cost of living is higher, if not substantially higher, then ours & thus our tickets look cheaper, but apples to apples comparing cost of living in the areas & I bet we are climbing that ladder towards the upper portion of the list. It's getting ridiculous when some 500 sections are close to the $90 range & that's suppose to the cheaper area.
