Justin Hunter and Margus Hunt

I don't have the information one would need to make an entire mock draft, but if we can somehow end the draft with these two guys on board I would be a happy man.

I realize Hunter has the ACL concern, but that would be the only reason we would have a shot at him. With no health concerns, he is a top 5-7 pick like AJ Green and Julio Jones. I have not been real big on us needing another wide receiver with Posey, Jean and Martin in the fold, but this guy is too good to pass on.

I watched Hunt in his bowl game. He looked like a less flexible, less refined JJ Watt to me. He's also 25 years old already and barely started playing football when he was 21 or 22. Just like Hunter above though, these are the reasons he would be available to us. If he was a 21 year old that was more refined, he would be a top 15 pick. If you could bring him in and get him some more polish to his game from NFL coaching, you could have a monster on your hands.

Those would be my first and second round picks. After that, everything else would be gravy.

I've been intrigued about Hunt and mentioned on other thread. If he is available in the mid rd, I hope we take a good look at him.

I've been on the hunt bandwagon since last year. Dude definitely has some skills to work with.

Hunt and watt on the same line would be pretty damn sick. It would definitely be a defensive identity to build on.

But Antinio had a good game. If I'm looking at weaknesses it's just not a big need for us.

SMU played Fresno St., not exactly a juggernaut of college football talent, and from reading another thread the guy that Hunt beat so badly was a true freshman. Just things to take into account when evaluating Hunt's bowl game performance. I'm not saying that Hunt isn't worth looking at but I wouldn't touch him any earlier than the 4th round, as I think we've got bigger holes to fill than backup DE. Now if we evaluate him well and are able to trade up for an additional pick in the 3rd, after filling NT, WR, O-line, and ILB then I might take a shot at him in the 3rd.

Justin Hunter's ACL was in 2011 and he had pretty good '12 season 73 for 1083 and 9 TDs. My main concern is durability and some doubt his body type will allow him to add bulk. He is a more "down the field type WR" that might not match up with our Qb.

I am open to the idea of Tavon Austin as well in the first round because of the concerns you mention with the down the field guy not being our bread and butter.
We just need some sort of playmaker on offense.
We do not possess a guy that can get loose across the middle and make a move or two and turn a nice little 5 yard in route into 25 yards. The only guy close is Keshawn, and I don't think his lateral quickness is elite.
Patriots have two of those guys in Welker and Hernandez, and really three when you throw in Gronkowski, though he achieves it in a different manner.

Tavon Austin would give us something that we have never had in my opinion. David Anderson would have been the closest thing, but he is a very, very poor man's Tavon Austin.

I mocked Hunt to us in my last mock attempt. He is an athletic freak, he reportedly runs in the 4.7 range. I think he may be able to play OLB.

I would feed him inside to RDE or just switch around with Watt.

I would also put him at RDE. Watt is an athletic freak too. Total mismatch for the opposing linemen.

This guy is a playmaker also.

I think the Texans should go ahead and get another receiver next year.
It seems like this class is going to be better than the last one.

Last year was pretty deep for WR. We passed on quite a few guys who look pretty good. Drafted Posey, who we reached for big time btw, when Mohamed Sanu was still on the board. He's already the #2 in Cincinnati. T.Y. Hilton was also on the board. He's been useful in Indy. Marvin Jones was on the board all day on day 3 and we never pulled the trigger. Cincinnati grabbed him too. Juron Criner was there as well. Sanu and Jones were the 2 guys I wanted us to grab before the draft and Cincy took both.

I can see why we drafted Martin. Slot WR type and can return kicks. We don't have a guy on the roster with his skill set. Makes sense. I think Kubiak drafted Posey just to try and look like a genius if it paid off. The guy has tons of talent and potential but that doesn't mean he will ever fully utilize it. He was plagued by off the field issues his entire college career and made a bunch of dumb decisions.

I think Posey is twice the receiver that Sanu is.
At least he was destined to be prior to the injury.

I don't think Martin is all that skillful.

Tavon Austin, in my opinion, would come in as one of the top 4 or 5 open field runners in the entire league.

Sanu almost has as many TD's this year as Posey had receptions. It took Posey all year just to get on the field on a team that badly needed another WR. In what way is he twice the receiver Sanu is?

Just the eyeball test.
I think Posey had the opportunity to be a Pro Bowl caliber player. He had a lot of physical ability. Just hope the achilles does not inhibit him from reaching his potential.

How about Vincent Jackson? Three
Miles Austin? 18 catches his first three years combined
Donald Driver? 37 catches his first three years combined

Stats are the worst thing to look at when trying to project a player. Look at the player, not the stats.
