We will never be an elite team if we do not have another reliable option to throw to in addition to AJ. Weather it be through trade or draft, we NEED a guy who can make plays. Robert Woods from USC is the guy I would be heavily interested in.

We need more than that to survive in today's NFL.
A WR1 that dominates defenses. A WR2 that stretches the field and can get separation, especially in zone. A slot guy who can get us first downs. A pair of TEs that can both block and catch passes up the seam and in the red zone. A running back that can be a threat out of the backfield and in the flats or up the middle. We are missing both our WR2 and WR3. And possibly a game changing TE.

people here will say it's on schaub and rightfully so but i like tavon austin if he's available.
speedy slot receiver who can get YAC and contribute to the return game. i don't see a deep ball threat working for schaub because of his arm strength and reluctance to throw the bomb unless the wr is WIDE OPEN. i like the idea of an athletic TE as well. |

I thought Posey's status was in question for next year, if not beyond, with a torn achilles. I'm assuming he isn't coming back 100%

As we have been told throughout our existance, the #1 quality a no. 2 receiver has to have is downfield blocking ability.

Other QBs make no-names into #2/#3 WRs.

This isn't as crazy a thought as you might think. We missed Dressen's blocking even more than his catches in the red zone this year.

They need to find a Tory Smith/Mike Wallace type of WR that can stretch the field...
Then they need to find a QB you will can get it to him deep without under-throwing him...

The second isn't a possibility so the first part is moot. Speed guys will rot and be a waste cause 8 can't throw it deep. And 8 is here for ...ever...

He is the answer if you want our #2 guy to continue to be mediocre. He is a big WR that can't get separation very well. He is totally overrated and wants #1 money. Bad Bad Bad idea. They need a Lance Moore type receiver especially in the salary department.

Daniels is ok but honestly he's never really lived up to the expectations we had for him early on. He's not all that athletic and frankly he looks slow out there. He's your precise route running go to a spot and stop guy. I see Owen Daniels as the TE you wanted 10 years ago in this game. Today your TE's are in the Tony Gonzales mode (and bigger). They're giant WR's like Gronkowski or Graham in New Orleans.

We need a dominant running game ala 2011 much more than we need a #2 WR at this point.

Yeah, Welker is going nowhere. He'd be a fool to leave New England.

He threatened to hold out and they wouldn't throw to him when he came back...but I think there's 0 chance he comes to Houston.
