Texans tight end Garrett Graham was limited in practice on Wednesday after suffering a concussion on Saturday against the Cincinnati Bengals. He could play Sunday in the Divisional Round at New England if he passes league concussion testing protocols.
Graham was hit hard in the helmet by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict late in the fourth quarter of the Texans’ 19-13 Wild Card victory over Cincinnati. He suffered another concussion earlier this season on Dec. 2 at Tennessee and missed the following game, which was the Texans’ 42-14 loss to the Patriots. Graham practiced all week that week but was not cleared for the game and did not travel with the team to Foxboro.

**** this ****. I had no idea he got another concussion. Goodness gracious. Losing him changes everything we do and everything we CAN do. And nobody gets it because you can't just say "Oh, we don't have Graham so it changed everything." People don't get that and they'll just laugh at you.

FYI FWIW Yates has shown up on the Injury Report for the past 2 weeks as "right elbow." That's his throwing arm. Elbow problems are surprisingly uncommon in quarterbacks. Because of the possibility of an impact from the defense, a quarterback usually uses an abbreviated follow-through during the deceleration phase of throwing rather than a complete follow-through, as in pitching. There are therefore less elbow injuries in football quarterbacks than in baseball pitchers because of the lower forces and torques (no twisting of the wrists used in the motion) required during the football deceleration phase. Has he already begun wearing it out?

For the first time in ages, I am glad to announce that Ball was apparently breathing and alive, and able to put on his shoes, move on the field (how fast, how far, or in what directions I cannot say), and complete an entire "limited" practice. By previously established definition of this status, mostly attributed to the "breathing" part........he should be a "go."

As of today both he and OD have been put back as "questionable" both yesterday and today. OD's shoulder is still bothering him quite a bit. And remember, Ball was listed as "probable" all last week before the Bengals game.


Reed was changed from "questionable" yesterday to "probable" today.

Graham was changed from "questionable" yesterday to "probable" today.

Well the Pats have a couple of guys out for the year who got significant playing time (Dowling & Edleman), but all but 5 players were removed from the injury report today and those 5 were listed as probable and were full participants in practice today. IOW the Pats will be at full strength on Sunday.
