ESPN First Take on Texans vs Patriots, Dan Shaughnessy Article

Basically, they believe the Texans are the Junior High B string wanna bees, while the Pats are a proven class act.
Schaub stinks. Brady sh1ts gold nuggets, and BB talks to God.
Seriously, what they said was pretty much true in regards to the Texans last showing in Foxborough.
They also made fun of the Letterman jacket deal and the fact that it was the Texans biggest game ever, when it was just another game to the Patriots.
Man, I'm really starting to hate the Pats, almost as bad as I once hated the Colts.

fact of the matter is, Firsttake is a very popular nationally televised sports opinion show despite how many people claim they hate this show or how much people try to trivialize the show.

Stephen A. is out of his element unless he's talking about the NBA. He pretty much stays on top of basketball and lots of contacts in that area. Football, not so much. And Skip Bayless is there pretty much to "stir the pot". He generally takes whatever stance causes the most controversy. If you're going to listen to anyone on ESPN, listen to Jaws. At least he breaks down film and has played the position.

First Take is fluff.

Eric Mangini basically said that the Shaunessy article shouldn't be necessary to provide incentive for the players. Everyone knows it's win or go home during the playoffs so they don't need bulletin board material for "inspiration". He also said, Foster needs to have a good game because an effective running attack will keep Tom Brady on the sidelines. Lastly, Mangini said that Belichick will remind his troops of how the Jets knocked them out of the playoffs a couple of years ago although the Pats had beaten them, in Foxboroigh, 45-zip earlier in that season. So don't get cocky and overconfident and take the Texans lightly.

First Take is still fluff though.

As someone that does usually catch the show.

SAS is the guy a bit bitter and jilted. He actually was on the bandwagon of the Texans but was disappointed with them after the Patriot game.

I don't think they said anything too outrageous. Texans will be the Pats little _____ until proven otherwise. I think they'll prove otherwise on Sunday.

1. N.E's FIRST possession of the game run into Brady at full speed and ring his bell even if he HAS thrown the ball already. If you see Brady's back up warming up...YOU'RE DOING YOUR JOB!

2. accept the fact that in this game you will sacrifice a game check...and not GIVE A I$HT!

3. Hit muff-huggas so hard they p:ss blood for a week and watch the Superbowl from home still applying ice packs.

4. With each possession remember that the Pats, refs and MEDIA think they're in for a cake walk...let it be known that "CAKE" has been in a deep freeze since the last game and go upside their heads with it.


5. This isn't a "prize fight" it's a street fight. Let the refs and league 3itch at you about how "unsportsmanlike" you were and how "dirty" you played and the fines to be levied against you as they're discussing how "Sad" it is that Brady and the Pats won't go to the AFC title game.

6. PLAY 4 quarters of solid smash mouth football and pound your opponent into a fine paste...then grind that paste beneath your heel after you take a whiz in it.

You forget who their coach is. In all the years I've seen Kubiak coach I've never seen him step on the throat of any opponent. Maybe there's been a few, but I don't remember them?

Yep. Stephen A actually gets things right on NBA more times than not.

With that said I always take any of the ESPN journalists (the ones that were not ex-players) as personalities and just guys that have their own opinion on things.

Also, the one thing I like about Stephen A AND Skip is that if they have an athlete on the show they will not shy away from asking those guys anything. Stephen A always does great interviews, I remember on his show he always got some really personal stuff out of them.

Their on-screen personalities and over-exaggerated opinions can be annoying.

They say that Foster's performance will make the biggest difference, but, according to them, Foster did well the first time anyway. I say we'd get further against the Pats if our safeties keep their heads on straight and Schaub has a better game against their secondary.

As much as we hate it, this is truth. There are still a lot of "firsts" that we haven't done yet. There's still a lot of "biggest games in Texans' history" out there.

If we win a Super Bowl, we'll be the first expansion team to win one in this era. Going back to Jacksonville, Carolina, & Cleveland.

its not that hard to talk abouut sports. but considering stephen a smith gets paid a couple of mill to talk sports, id say he is doing very well for a guy out of his "element."

I dont care how much you people want to trivialize First Take and claim how much you hate and how much skip and sas suck, they make for great entertaining discussion and they get paid handsomely to do it for a reason and why you dont.
