Several teams in top 8 could be looking for QB in second round. Would a trade of Texans first #28 (if they lose this weekend) to 32 for their high second round + a swap of firsts in 2014 be a good deal and if yes, what team(s) would be interested?
There is scuttlebutt Browns new owner will make sweeping changes and Wheeden 30 could be gone: Seeing as Weeden will sit out Cleveland’s season finale with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he will finish the year with 3,385 yards, 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. His quarterback rating of 72.6 was the worst among qualified rookie quarterbacks, although many of his struggles can be attributed to a lack of reliable targets to throw to. Read more at http://www.rantsports.com/nfl/2012/1...GEuU4VGgSLM.99 http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/...Brandon-Weeden IIRC, Browns lost their 2nd round for selecting Josh Gordon, but still interested in this type trade.

Not sure that I have seen team "flip" picks in a future year. that pontentially is giving too much to the team trading up. I think a trade would be structured either.
-2014 1st for the late 1st in 2013 (texans) - 2013 2nd for & 2014 1st (or lesser picks in 2013) for the 1st 2013 (texans)

The Browns don't even have a 2nd round pick, so I don't know why you bring them up. They spent it on the supplemental draft and only have 6 picks in the draft. They are more likely to be trading down from 6 to acquire more picks for the new regime.
If we are talking strictly trade ups for QBs, the prime candidate to me would be the Cardinals. They have the 7th overall pick, which they may not use on a QB due to lack of talent at the position. Suppose Barkley or Wilson are there at the end of 1st and they need a trade partner to jump ahead of the Jags, Chiefs or Raiders, they could be willing to pay a premium and give up the 38th and ~104th (early 4th) picks for him. A bad team trading/swapping a future 1st is very unlikely to me, unless it's a Robert Griffin type deal. As for the Texans, they need high picks in this draft, and not the 11 they have coming to them. I'd rather see the Texans in the buyers market trading up from the later rounds with a team that's rebuilding. The Browns lack picks and need more to help the new regime, I'm sure they would jump at a late 3rd and 4th for their early 3rd. Those are the kinds of trades I'm expecting from the Texans this year, we don't exactly wheel and deal like the Patriots.

I don't know if you can make future picks conditional as you can in the NBA, but even if you could it would defer the pick until future drafts which is no good at all. Definitely pass.

Unless there is a player that falls that we just can't pass up I would prefer to just trade our first round pick for a first next year. This pick is basically a second rounder anyway. Next year we could use the 2 first to position ourselves to go get a difference maker.
I know people will hate this idea but think about it for a minute. With two first we would have the amo to go after a future QB if needed or a Eventual #1 WR to take Johnson's place. We could finally get that second weapon that so many want. Remember we have 11 picks in this draft. Putting one late first away to boost our future ability to get a top player could be huge for us in the 2014 draft.

The Texans could be one of those teams in the market for QB. And I agree with Dutch, that the Texans (with 11 picks) could be in position to move up at some point to take a player they covet.

if possible:
i would look to trade for a 1st round pick next year, using this years 1st. then look to use our extra picks to move up in the 2nd if there is a player we really want/value |

I like this idea, it would allow us to pick multiple quality players in the 2nd round this year thus filling team holes while at the same time giving us two 1st round picks in 2014 which would allow us to move up and take a big pick (QB) in 2014. The only problem is that with the limited talent in this draft what team is going to want to trade back into the late 1st round and why?

If Rick Smith switched number one picks next year with any team as a sweetener, ostensibly in our favor, then he needs to be fired.
We would conceivably be letting a second round team move up and get our first round pick this year, and then they may win the super bowl next year and we go 8-8 and they get to move up 16 spots again next year. We would be letting them move up twice with nothing to show for it.

Thanks for input all of you. Regardless of how remainder of this season goes, I do not see Texans trading up in 2013 for any of these QBs. My target for QB would be 2014 and hope many underclassmen come out to drive a good QB downward. Yes, there is a gamble the team you trade with could do well and the value of their selection is less. Still there are teams that seemingly remain high in draft consistently. There are just not many options as I see it to get a "franchise" type player without throwing a lot at the trade.

You want the 6th pick in the draft this year, and we could give it up for Houston's 2013 1st and 2nd and 2014 1st. Other than that, no way. Browns need lots of picks to fix the ship, their needs are all over the place.
