Why not? he is already rated in 2nd -3rd rd. range (Rob Rang) so if you simply average it out he is either a late 2nd (where Texans select) or early third. You yourself who follow him said "ceiling is very high" & he's a "Great athlete". While I have not watched him that much just on raw ability alone he impressed the heck out of me. I would spend a late 2nd on him & let him battle Newton for starting RT duties. On or the other could be the swing tackle. Solid value all around.

Agreed,
From what little I've seem of Watson, he wont go until the 3rd/4th rd. IMHO With that said Give me a guy like Long in the 2nd if he's there. Long has just as much ability, but will be able to play a significant role next yr and is a perfect fit for the ZBS. Not to mention the family genes another guy that just entered the draft that might make a good ZBS OL is David Bahktiari. He seems like a prospect in the Watson mold but maybe a little more polished. |

differences in opinion are natural in this process if everyone agreed then what would be the attraction?
I've had discussions where I stand in stark contrast to my draft brothers even those I trust & count on for feedback the most. So I guess here is another one. Menelik Watson, is 6060 320, which is similar size to Duane Brown but a little taller, who reportedly can run the forty yard dash not only under 5.0 seconds (Duane Brown ran 5.09) but 4.7 seconds. Initially a very respected scouting service also had Duane Brown graded Fourth/Fifth round. Certainly we have learned something? I understand fans discouragement when young, talented, football players leave early for the NFL but it is their body, their future, their family which can derail even the perfect timeline & best of projections. I think if Mr. Watson had stayed for his senior year @ FSU he had a chance to be one of the top tackles & certain lock to go in the first round, at least that would be my advise. Like I said would need to see more game film but he sure looks like he could not only be elite RT but could play LT as well. Texans war room now has one more viable option to consider in any effort to upgrade their OL.

Drafting an O Lineman or WR2 will allow team to bring them along; not so with ILB. IMO, we pretty much need a starter regardless where we get him.
