Great.... now next weeks story is going to be how Arian was too worried about freak'n tabloid sports writers instead of practicing.

The fact is, if the Shaughnessy story is what the Texan players need to make them fired up to play the Pats, then they've lost already.

Why would any player be listening to what a mediot columnist says. Their job is to stir things up to begin with. What's funny is that he column is getting panned among Pats almost as it is here. Here's a link and see for yourself

http//www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/994930-dan-shaughnessy-gives-uninformed-texans-fans-posting-material-ugh.html

The bottom line will be that the game will be won on the field, by the players and coaches and not by some overly smug, self serving sports writer, who cares more about trending on twitter, than informing his shrinking readership.

thanks for the props.

Doesn't make much sense to me to come down here and be a dick. I'd much rather have intelligent talk about football. Speaking of which, if you want intelligent football, read Greg Bedard at the Globe. Much better than Shaughnessy, who is just a "button pusher".

We really dislike banning people. As long as he keeps it civil and to the smack talk forum he'll survive. I will thank the Pats fans who have come in and been good about talking football.

One of the key tenants of the "Patriot Way" is "don't listen to the noise". It comes right after "do your job". in other words, don't listen to what the mediots in the press and talk shows are saying. They don't know whats going on.

Right now Adrian Foster is "listening to the noise". Not a great sign. Well actually it IS a great sign.....if you are a Pats fan.

I don't know why everyone is so worked up over this. Is he flame throwing? Yes. However, can you really dispute any of the facts he said. The Texans did fold up like a cheap tent that day. Until they punch Pretty Tom in the mouth and man up, this guy is right until proven wrong.

Just doesn't matter.

That any media/fans talking about it and using his name means the trolls won.

Foster didn't talk about it. It is just an avatar. He probably thinks it is funny. I think it is funny. In America, you can be paid to be a troll. And getting your panties wadded up about this means he wins.

Dooooooooon't caaaaaaaaaaaaare.

These guys are human. They are not going to be looking at game film 24 hours a day. I don't see any problem with it.

Damn. Seems I'm too late. Was going to post about why Texans players should ignore this clown since this is his goal all along. In the media world any attention good or bad is a successful writing.

This is what he wanted all along. Now cbs and espn is going to run with this locker room stories and Shaughnessy and his boss will be sipping 30yrs aged Scotch over Cuban cigar in his office saying, "I can't believe that work!"

It just depends on the person.

Some athletes may do better ignoring it but I think some just add it to their list of things that fuel them. It was said that Jordan would use any little thing that anyone said about him to motivate himself.

In football's case, just look at the first thing Bart Scott said after the win in 2010. It was about what 'they' said about the Jets. He even NAMED guys that didn't believe in the team.

So I don't think there is no wrong or right way to motivate a team or player.

I wouldn't get too invested in the Jets playoff upset in the 2010 playoffs. There are only 23 players on the Pats that had to endure the pain of that loss.

In 2010 BB was just into the 2nd year of a virtual reboot of the Roster that dominated the league until 2007 There are only about 8 players left from that 2007 team. Most people aren't aware that the Pats had the youngest defense in the league. BB's genius is that managed that roster reboot while still remaining one of better teams in the league every year.
