Because the Vikes MUST win this game and because the running game is working, probably so as long as they are barely winning. A strong running game is critical in that situation as long as it can move the chains and burn clock. If they were trailing or winning big, you'd have less need to lean on him. But this is one case where pushing for a record makes sense for the team's playoff hopes as well.
