Default Colts Anatomy of a Play: Breaking down J.J. Watt's relentless pressure

This is what it looks like being on the wrong side of J.J. Watt, from the Indianapolis Star.

Colts Anatomy of a Play: Breaking down J.J. Watt's relentless pressure
By Zak Keefer | FILED UNDER - Indianapolis Sports / Indianapolis Colts | Dec. 17, 2012

Quote:
"He's the whole package... power, speed, quickness."
-- Colts offensive guard Joe Reitz

"He's a high-effort, great player and deserving of the awards he wins."
-- Colts interim coach Bruce Arians

"We didn't play well, especially up front. We're happy to have another shot at these guys."
-- Colts offensive tackle Jeff Linkenbach

The unguardable, unstoppable J.J. Watt put his wide-ranging repertoire on full display Sunday afternoon at Reliant Stadium, manhandling a shaky Colts offensive line on his way to the latest chapter of a stellar sophomore season.

Watt, a leading candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, had three sacks, 10 tackles (including three for a loss) and forced a fumble. With two games to play, he's three sacks shy of Michael Strahan's single-season record.

A breakdown of two of Watt's most dominating efforts during the Texans' 29-17 victory:

Play #1: Beats two blockers, sacks Luck for 15-yard loss
...
Play #2: Watt breaks off block, hauls in Ballard
...
Nicely put together analysis w/freeze-frames on why Watt is DPOY.

The Colts have no answer. There is no answer.

There was a play near the end of the 1st half where Watt dropped off the line about 5-8 yards and was moving whichever way Luck was looking. Watt didn't get a knockdown on the pass, but he forced Luck to throw around him and the pass missed it's intended target. Even when he's not being a bull rushing beast he's affecting the play. Just in awe of the guy.
