I wouldn't call our secondary garbage at all. If Joseph could get fully healthy, I think he shows more consistency. He still is a great player to me. I'm very happy with the improvement of Kareem Jackson and really like the direction he has been heading in. LIke someone said before, our defense makes a lot of big key stops when it really needs to. That's a great attribute. Manning and Quin are doing a pretty good job back there. It was just these last two games before today where the defense gave up a ton of points. I think that our defense should be fine come playoff time assuming that we don't get any major injuries.

Need to regroup and do inventory...
What are their injuries and how long are they expected to be out?

The TV guys said it pretty well today. The D plays lights out on 65 out of 70 plays and gets burned for big plays on the other 5. That's the high risk/high reward D we have.

Our secondary was playing great until McCain left. We were playing with Kareem Jackson, Brandon Harris, and Roc Carmichael... 2 2nd year players who have had very little to no experiences and one 3rd year player. We're obviously going to need JoJo back, would love to have McCain back as well, but seeing he has a boot and crutches, hes probably out for Monday, so we're going to need Ball back as well. If Harris can play like he did in the first half, then I have no problem putting him out there.
Other than 2.5 drives, other secondary was solid. Not to mention our offense went to crap in the 2nd half so I think that contributed to how the secondary played in the 4th. If anyone thinks our secondary is garbage, then you need to go see a doctor because youre crazy.

Kareem looked like a #1 today, same as pretty much the whole season so far.

J.Jo didnt dress , Ball didnt either , McCain got injured during the game. Then add in Cushing , James and Reed out at the LBer spots .... thats significant. Three of the top four corners and three of the four LBers to start the season yet they win on the road and give up 10 points .... and people want to complain. As for the scheme and playing so much man coverage , I have no problem with it. The Titans never solved it and did nothing until late in the 4th quarter when they were forced to take chances. Also it doesnt tip the Texans defenses hand giving other teams more film to evaluate exotic coverages.

I thought both Harris & Roc played well given it was really their first significant minutes in the NFL. Both only second year players. Roc was put on IR as a rookie during camp so never even got any reps as a rookie. Harris was pretty tight in coverage, forced some small windows & contested jump balls. Only thing about him are these phantom penalties he seems to draw. Carmichael improved as game wore on when as his legs got under him. Really fierce tackler, like that strong lower body driving through his man. I would love to see how he tests out by strength & conditioning coach, pound per pound looks very strong

Don't know if this was mentioned in the thread earlier, but consider this: After McCain left with the foot injury, Posey was in line to play DB if needed.
Fortunately, that wasn't the case. They still pulled out the W. |

That's what they say & all, but I'm sure Glover would have been moved to CB before Posey & Shilo would be the Joker.

I finally got to watch the game and I have no idea what started this thread!? Considering the circumstances, I thought the secondary played well.
Brandon & Roc have been on the inactive list majority of the season, and last night they were thrown into the fire... it was obvious those two guys were picked on the whole game. KJ (except for the one TD play) basically shut down Britt the whole game. Not to mention, we're missing 3 of our starting LBers. I could also tell, in the 4th, when the Tits were going no-huddle, the DL was gassed and the pass rush wasn't as good as the rest of the game. To me, it was very encouraging to see those guys get some minutes. But at the same time, we need everyone to come back soon! |

Seriously?
We were down to our 5 & 6th cb's having to play significant time due to injuries, what did what did you expect? Considering the circumstances, I think they were pretty damn good. & at the end of the day, it was our original starting #2 cb & #2 FS that were burned for Tenn's only score. Hell, i don't even think Carmicheal or Harris have been active in 2 years of being on this team. Some teams don't even have starters that play as well as those guys played yesterday....ask Tennessee. |

Those same people expect their favorite college players to come into the league & shock the world right off the bat. Those players don't play on our team, so they watch us, & catch highlights of said favorite player. Yeah, Patrick Willis was a beast from day one. So was Demeco, so was Cush. But they are exceptions to the rule. Even Watt wasn't the guy we see today until later into his rookie year. I can't think of a corner to enter the league in the last 5 years or so to live up to his draft hype. But these guys, Harris & Roc, who haven't played any extended football for a year, are supposed to come in & be shutdown corners yesterday. Not very realistic if you ask me.

Has any of our members that rewatch the games a lot counted how many INT's the secondary has dropped this season? I cana think of 5 right off the top of my head with 2 of those coming against the Bronco's. It seems like they have dropped a bunch that hit them right in the hands.
