I know it's not NFL, but I don't see any other areas for CFL talk.
Does anyone else watch CFL ball? If so, thoughts on the Grey Cup this year?

I like watching the CFL, but I don't know a lot about the players or the teams.

Don't watch as much as I used to... I watched a lot in the 70's. I usually watch a bit at the start of the year before the NFL season starts. I am looking forward to Ottawa getting a team again, now that all the court challenges are out of the way (the stadium is close to downtown & the people who live there don't like it).
I just saw bits of the Grey Cup game this year; we had people over who aren't football fans... plus the game was a blowout. |

Awful Grey Cup matchup this year. The Western final between BC and Calgary was far better.
At least they ponied up the cash and got a couple of big names to play the halftime show - which might help the game get some younger fans - even if the guys in the stadium weren't too hot on hearing Bieber.

Well the Grey Cup was terrible for me as a Stamps fan! Like Mattiuek said, the Western Final was far more entertaining.
The CFL is a pretty good league. In recent years it has had some very good players who have gone on to do well in the NFL, most notably Cameron Wake. NFL teams are watching for players here, which makes it an attractive place to play for a player who still wants to make the NFL. It is a very different game though as everything is geared towards offense, such as field size, scoring system, only needing one foot in bounds as a receiver etc. It makes for an entertaining game. |

It was terrible! I still upset the Al's lost to the Argo's >.< But it kind of seemed like a a story you would read in a book; 100th Cup, the team with the most titles hosting the game, blah blah blah.

And I was always a Sens fan first. :P Though I have gotten back into the CFL a little as of late, and I'll definitely support the Ottawa franchise when it comes. Are they keeping the Renegades name?

Not sure about the nickname, though. I think there'll be a contest to name it. I hope they keep the colors, though... black, red & white are Ottawa's colors. They still have a lot to do first, though. Good news is, all the court challenges are done, so they should start soon. |

Beckwith? Goodness, that's far away. I don't remember anything past Kanata in that direction lol.
Edit: I believe that's the route we took to drive to Toronto. Queensway to 7 all the way to Peterborough and then other smaller roads to get into Toronto proper. Yes, I did hear about all the court challenges being done with. So... how exactly will they field a team? Bunch of draft picks and free agents? |

Take the Queensway to 7 to Carleton Place & then turn left on Hwy 15 towards Smiths Falls... you'll be in Beckwith in less than 5 minutes. Hey, the Gee Gees had to play somewhere Funny thing, I saw the McMaster Marauders bus at the gas station in Carleton Place on the way there. Here's some info on the expansion draft: http://www.cfl.ca/article/expansion-draft-plan-approved BTW, the contest to name the team is on right now: http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/...heir-new-team/ Remember, can't choose Rough Riders... |

Nationals, Rush, Raftsmen, Voyageurs & what looks like to be the ownership's choice; RedBlacks (looks like they want the block "R" on the helmet, plus Ottawa sports teams usually wear red & black) http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/...tial-new-name/ http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/01/23/...d-for-cfl-team Guess my choice was rejected
