Default NFL Mid-Season 2013 Mock Draft

1) Jacksonville 1-6 Johnathan Hankins, DT 6030 320 Ohio State
safe, solid prospect who addresses interior DL need. considered by many as the #1 overall talent worth the money.

2) Kansas City 1-6 Matt Barkley, QB 6020 230 USC
Good fit & must upgrade position. Barkley could assimilate the playbook quickly from fellow Trojan alum Cassel putting him on fast track to start.

3) Carolina 1-6 Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB 6020 242
dominating defensive pass rusher with elite measureable.

4) San Diego 3-4 Star Lotulelei, DT 6030 320 Utah

Solid starting DL with athletic ability to contribute early.

6) St. Louis 3-5 Luke Joeckel, OT 6060 320 Texas A&M
Top LT prospect in draft to protect Bradford blind side.

7) Buffalo 3-4 Geno Smith, QB 6030 220 West Virginia
We will see this Sunday, remember Fitz killing Texans as back-up years ago but what have you done lately?

8) Cincinnati 3-4 Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB 6040 240 LSU
dynamic edge pass rusher upgrade to defense.

9) NY Jets 3-5 Keenan Allen, WR 6030 210 California
Dynamic WR to help which ever QB direction the little tuna goes.

10) New Orleans 2-5 Manti T'eo, 6020 255 Notre Dame
quick turnaround for worst defense in league (for variety of reasons) read & react playmaker.

11) Tennessee 3-5 Jake Matthews, 6050 305 Texas A&M
Potential to give Munchack/Matthews best OL in entire NFL which should really benifit injured Jake Locker & RB Chris Johnson.

12) St. Louis (via Washington 3-5) Chance Warmack, OG 6020 322 Alabama
helping Bradford in same vein to protect their franchise QB.

13) Oakland 3-4 Dee Milliner, CB 6010 198 Alabama
best CB in class, polished with speed ready to start.

14) Tampa Bay 3-4 Taylor Lewan, OT 6070 310 Michigan
Bucs seem on the rebound when defensive stars return OL line help for Freeman a must.

15) Dallas 3-4 Bjoern Werner, DE/OLB 6040 256 Florida State
reaction to missing on Watt, will lean on Werner to fill similar role. would have selected RB but with injury to Lattimore have no 1st rd. grades for position

16) Philadelphia 3-4 Damontre Moore, DE/OLB 6040 250 Texas A&M
Eagles are going through defensive changes, would give them personal to switch to 3-4 scheme.

17) Detroit 3-4 Jonathan Banks, CB 6010 185 Mississippi State
Great fit for Jim Schwartz defensive minded head coach. nice pairing down the road with Bentley/Houston.

18) Arizona 4-4 Eric Fischer, OT 6070 305 Central Michigan
pass protection needs upgrading, great potential prospect for LT

19) Seattle 4-4 Cordarrelle Patterson, WR/KR 6030 205 Tennessee
plus retuner & deep threat for Russell Wilson who likes to throw the deep ball

20) Indianapolis 4-3 John Jenkins, DT 6030 358 Georgia
run plugger solidifies interior defense, option to change defensive schemes

21) Miami 4-3 Justin Hunter, WR 6040 200 Tennessee
replacement for departed Marshall to help promising rookie QB Tannehill

22) Minnesota 5-3 Jesse Williams, DT 6030 320 Alabama
physical run defender to stop the bleeding inside

23) Baltimore 5-2 Eric Reed, FS 6020 215 LSU
next Ed Reed will gain valuable experience & mentoring from best who has played position

24) Pittsburgh 4-3 Sheldon Richardson, DE/DT 6030 295
3-4 end with motor skill set to bring some wattage in physical mold of Steelers

25) Green Bay 5-3 Barrett Jones, C 6040 305 Alabama
upgrade position play with Rodgers to end of career

26) Denver 4-3 Robert Woods, WR 6010 190 USC
smart, experienced, advanced receiver to add to Manning Fleet

27) New England 5-3 Xavier Rhodes, CB 6010 217 Florida State
big corner-back to enforce the boundaries will push for starting role

28) Chicago 6-1 Dallas Thomas, OT 6050 310 Tennessee
Cutler loves to throw the ball but not while he's being hit, also improves run blocking on left side

29) San Francisco 6-2 Jonathan Cooper, OG 6030 310 North Carolina
Harbaugh loves smash mouth football, Cooper is the missing piece of his OL puzzle to ground & pound

30) Houston 6-1 Tyler Eifert, TE 6050 252 Notre Dame
plus value adding top TE prospect in this draft. PLUG & PLAY starter @ depth rich position helping pass pro while evolving passing routes.

31) New Jersey Giants 6-2 Alex Okafor, DE 6050 265 Texas
BPA who fits Giant mold of great pass rushing 4-3 ends allowing Umenyiora chance in free agency.

32) Atlanta 7-0 T.J. McDonald, FS 6020 205 USC
could use upgrade in secondary, next best safety after Reid.

I'd do it. I have tried mocking Eifert but could not get him to us. Could then replace Fiedo in 3rd with another player. Not a need position but If I am correct, WR will not be addressed by Texans unless Woods falls. Our first round could be BPA and take NT Nicks second and Andrew Jackson in 3rd

If Giovani Bernard, UNC goes into the draft this year (he's technically eligible) do you see him as first round talent or not at this point?

I think we have that type runner in Forsett, although Bernard would be cheaper and may be a better receiver. I have him about mid third round now.

I was just curious where you saw him going as a current student at UNC.

I hope he stays another year, and I think it would improve his draft stock.

Picks are based off my own assessments of team needs half way point of NFL season along with College prospects play to date who will most likely be eligible for next years draft in April. I reserve to make adjustments, of course as the draft approaches (stay fluid my friends) College season ends & playoffs finish in NFL. Then its on to East West Shriner, Senior Bowl & Combine before prospects make last impressions during Pro-days. But nothing beats game film, life blood of scouts, those interested now is the time to pay attention & take notes. Just sharing some of my own

I like it a lot BL. I consider these mocks to be more difficult to produce than the Texans-centric ones, so this was a huge effort.

As far as the Texans' pick is concerned. I am a fan. I wanted a TE last year, and Eiffert fits the Fleener mold.

Depends on his personal needs for money. Football wise, if not a first round remain in school. I do not think this is a strong running back class. What do you think about your Nose Louis Nicks 3?

Important to note draft order is based off week 9 John McClain power rankings, not team records. I could see both the Giants or Falcons taking Eifert if available if things change who I have graded slightly ahead of last years #34th draft selection, Indianapolis Colts TE Coby Fleener. Currently slotted four WR's drafted before Texans selection, Allen, Hunter, Patterson & Woods (this years Kendall Wright). Then there is a drop-off just like last year so we're looking @ another Brian Quick, Stephen Hill, Jeffery Alshon, Rueben Randle model.....

Tyler Eifert is a sure thing. Really bolsters & fits seamlessly into Texan TE rotation while improving inline blocking & shading the tackle position for better pass pro. Eventually, maybe sooner than later, would prove to be equal if not superior weapon to our own Dallas Clarke clone, Owen Daniels. The key is improvement in blocking scheme, like adding a quality OT to help Newton or shutdown another teams top speed rusher. Supreme route runner, smart, fundamental sound hand position (ball never gets into body uses hands) & excellent footwork.

He has some quickness for sure for a man of his size, but the issue I've had some of this year is that our D-Line as a whole seems to have trouble getting pressure at times. He does well at the run stop and does make plays. He definitely has streaks of brilliance where he seems like he's getting penetrations, or plugging the run for a short/no gain. But then a few plays later the QB has way to much time in the pocket leading to coverage breakdowns.

Granted, I haven't rewatched any of the games this year in an evaluative way. It's all been as a fan, and mostly live so I don't have a great view of what's going on.

Agree but having him drop is the key. Most polls have him late first althugh Walter #20. You cannot improve RT without spending high round this draft, imo.

Thanks for recognizing my foggy thinking. I had Sylvester mocked just ahead of Alabama's Nose Jesse Williams then Beerlover told me about ND's Nicks. Your guy seems to have a rep for not playing 100% but when I've watched him he does pretty well. What do you think about Sylvester's motor?

I think a lot of that rep comes from the work under Butch Davis. Whether or not you think he knew of what was going on here with the academic scandals, he should have if he didn't. So I think it was part of his style/philosophy that led to slack guys. I think with the change over to Larry Fedora a lot of that will disappear. He seems to have got his stuff together and the teams (we have tended to play much better in the second half after adjustments / whatever he does in the locker room).

I think that he has a good motor. Not at the JJ Watt level (but I'm not sure anyone is at that level), but I think he puts in more than Quiton Coples, who disappointed last year.

Very good comments. North Carolina has had some great talent in last few year & 3 Amigos have mocked some of them. Some like Yates have stepped up and Dwight Jones fell apart. It would have been interesting to see what Fedora could have accomplished with them.

Another player I can't get a feel on is Kevin Reddick. Loved him last season but even NFL Draft Scout says he is falling as he does not put out much effort if play does not go to his side.

Reddick is definitely an athletic kid and has the physical ability to play at the next level. And he definitely has the ability to make plays. In the NC State game he came up big when we needed the defense to.

However, it is true he can disappear on plays away from him which has been a disappointment this season. I want to say that these are things that can be fixed if he gets into the right environment in the NFL, but it is worrying that he does this the year before he goes into the draft and he should be playing his absolute hardest.

I like to think the real Reddick is more like the one at the end of the NC State game, but if I was in charge of drafting I don't think I would look at Reddick at all before the 3rd round. Granted, my interest with the draft and reading mocks and all that just started last year for real, so take this all with a grain of salt.
