Super Bowl winners who have had their butts handed to them in the regular season

I don't see how this loss affects our super bowl chances. This team need to be humbled. They haven't lost since last years playoff game and now they know what it tastes like. Looking back at it I'd rather have a few loses during the season than go undefeated into the playoffs and lose. Look at the '07 Patriots for example.

everybody's got a game so far that they didnt bother showing up for. only the falcons have been able to squeak out games that they werent at their best so far.

and they never show up for the playoffs.... So all is right with the world...

This has to motivate the Texans to prove everyone that they are for real. I mean, JimRome saying the Texans were exposed and some other Jack Ass saying the Texans are a fraud- Man, if that does not motivate you - not sure what will.

I mean, we played a Jets team that was coming off an embarrassing loss and for the first time - we didn't win by 20 points and almost lost that game. Green Bay comes in after an embarrassing loss to the colts and probably sick of answering questions about what is wrong with them and sick of hearing about the 5-0 Texans (and falcons).

Now, we have to go take it to the Ravens like GB did to us. GB reverted to their Superbowl selves and we reverted to the 2010 and earlier Texans.

IIRC, the Bears defense gave up less than 13 points per game that year, including the 38 given up in the Dolphins game.

That game was a spectacle, alright. Mark Duper and Mark Clayton...Dan Marino, they really aired it out on the Bears. Watched that one as a teen on Monday Night, I believe.

There was also when the Pittsburgh Steelers (who would go on to beat the L.A. Rams later on in the Super Bowl at the conclusion of the 1979-80 season)...got their butts handed to them 35-7 by Dan Fouts, Woodrow Lowe and the San Diego Chargers. I mean, the Steelers got their heads handed to them in that game. Also, during that season, the lowly Cincinnati Bengals thrashed the Steelers 34-10!

The Oakland Raiders, winners of the Super Bowl the following year...got severely manhandled by Joe Cribbs and the Buffalo Bills, 24-7, in Week 4 of the 1980 NFL campaign.

In recent times, the Steelers who won the Super Bowl 2005-06 season, got drubbed by the Indy Colts, 26-7 in Week 12.

Last year's NY Giants who just won the Super Bowl ...

Midseason lost 4 games in a row highlighted by a 49-24 thrashing by the New Orleans Saints.

The Giants did have some key injuries on defense during the stretch.

That said as one who follows the Giants also I have to say that I don't have the same confidence in the Texans as I do the Giants for 2 big reasons. Gary Kubiak and Matt Schaub.

When the chips are down I have all of the confidence in the world in both Coughlin and Manning, especially in close games. Kubiak and Schaub ... not so much.
