It's not just the types of plays, the Jets want our signal calls at the line, names of audibles, names of fake audibles, etc etc. There is a lot of coding that goes on when the QB is under center and yelling out colors, numbers and such. That is information that is difficult to decode from film, and it can be much easier to understand if you have a translator available. Now whether or not Grimes knows these things, or knows the current signals is another story, but if the Jets really wanted this info I would have expected them to sign Keenum.

I think they are simply a team hurting at RB, and they want to try him out. It's a cheap trial at about 21k a game. They can cut him in 3 weeks if he sucks.

Well now I think we will get to see if the Texans should have gone with Kyle Wilson instead of Kareem Jackson. I expect him to be in their rotation at the #2 CB spot. It will be interesting to see him go against Walter, Martin, Posey and Daniels.

He's been a disappointment but like Jackson, he's improved as he has matured. Who I think will be exploited by Kubiak is Ellis Lankster, who moves to the nick. I read somewhere that with Revis they give up 55% completion rate and without him its 65% and 3 more ypc (or something close to those figures).

The Big 3 of that draft class were Devin McCourty, Kyle Wilson, and Kareem Jackson. I personally preferred McCourty becuase I saw him as a physical man corner and Wilson more as a zone specialist. At the I ranked Jackson as #3 overall becuase he was not really great at either. I had him as a nickle corner due to a lack of make up speed.

Of the big 3 only Jackson was asked to start right away and he got burnt more than Mr. Buchanan...well maybe not that much but it was still bad. Neither McCourty or Wilson were asked to start and instead provided nickle and dime coverage. Fast forward a couple of seasons and Wilson really hasn't developed as expected. A case could be made that Jackson has outplayed Wilson last year and the begining of this year. McCourty on the other hand has looked solid. While he has not looked elite, he looks like an average starting NFL cornerback.

If the Jets are smart they will try to help their young CB with safety help. This will leave large parts of the other side of the field open to Daniels, Walter, and Foster/Tate. If the Texans can establish that run game, it will force the other safety to play in tight opening up the middle of the field.

I really hate the Jets. Does anyone remember at the end of the 2009 season when we were fighting for a playoff spot and needed the Jets to win? I felt like they purposely lost to screw us.

Grimes is a decent Zone scheme RB prospect, but let's not get carried away about this loss.

He wasn't going to crack the rotation here for like......ever. Let the man have a shot with a more RB poor team. Sorry we lost him, but he should be excited about the opportunity there.

You have that backwards. The Jets were the 7-7 team going into the final weeks who needed to win out and hope that other games and tiebreakers broke their way to make it in. The Colts and then the Bengals laid down in the final two weeks to let them into the playoffs instead of the Texans.

McCourty was not intended to start his rookie season but due to injuries he started all 16 games his rookie season.

I'm mad that we let a GOOD prospect go. He was the one guy I was worried about getting signed off our squad.

Then again, doesn't he have the chance to see what Houston would offer (to surpass the Jets' offer and stay with us, continent upon being signed to our active 53)? I am thinking he can sign with any team, so why not sign with us?

If so, it means we didn't want him ($$$$) as badly as the Jets did, or he just felt he can go be with a team who wanted him bad enough to claim him off a practice squad.

No matter what, I felt he had great potential here. Sucks, tbh.

Bingo. That game, I still remember it...there was like NOTHING positive that we could do that game. It was the first time I remember thinking "****, it's no use. They sniffing out everything we try to do."

It was miserable. Then there's Sage Rosenfels over there with the clipboard and cap on, yeah...I wonder how we got owned on every single freaking offensive play we attempted??? LOL. Hmm.....

McCourty was burned left and right last year.
He's getting better, but still was behind the eight ball quite a bit (in each of the 3 games so far this year) despite the fact that the Pats play a majority of the time with 2-deep safeties.

In his rookie year, the Pats played mostly 2-deep cover to protect McCourty.
When they started to ask him to do more than a cover two corner later in the year, his weakness started to show.

It continued into his second year, after which he made ProFootball Focus list of one-thousand-yard donor (yard giving up to the opponents).

In the Ravens game this past week, Collingsworth called his (and the safety) tackling effort on a TD run after the catch "pathetic".

Here's an excerpt from a newspaper article:

"Just 22 games ago he was the player around whom the Patriots hoped they could build their secondary, but he has regressed from a ball-hawking rookie to a burnt-regularly veteran who teams no longer need to fear in coverage, and barely even have to respect."

Grimes will look good compared to the rest of those Jets runners. He has a real chance there. I was counting on him being in our rotation after Ben Tate gets a starter's contract elsewhere.

With the quality of our roster we'll have to get used to teams poaching some talented prospects from the team. As long as Smith keeps on drafting great it will happen every year.

Grimes wasn't drafted, which makes this so much harder to take.

We got Grimes as an undrafted free agent (rookie) and I love the idea of getting the next Arian Foster for basically free--No draft pick, and low contract amount. Not saying Grimes is the next Foster...just saying that Grimes was a guy who could have been in at RB2 or RB3 at some point in the future, IMO.

This is a first, though: Teams know we know how to find talented RBs...so they will sit back and let us do the work. Sure, the OL and the scheme and everything around the team is what helps makes our RBs good, but still...teams are going to snag our PS RBs quite a bit for the next several years I'm afraid.

But hey, we kept Keo (a 4th string Safety and ST player) so it's all good. Keo is a roster spot killer, #$%@!

That's an extemely good thing!! When other teams start to poach your players, that means you have really nice depth!!! Losing Grimes (and I hate that we did) is equivalent of "you have good talent""!! I'm stoked!!!!

Exactly. As good as Grimes was (or could have been), he wasn't better than the guy who's our 3rd RB. And now he's on the Jets roster and given how those guys have been running (29th in y/a, 17th in total yards), you've got to imagine he'll at least get a few carries.

Although I would have expected them to just demote Shonn Greene at this point and start giving more chances to Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell. And... checking the news... looks like they are looking at promoting Powell, at least. It's looking like maybe McKnight isn't panning out.

I wish Grimes all the luck in the world except when he's playing us.
