Its almost karmic justice the name they ended up with is terrible. This is what the football gods do if you try to come up with a cutesy nickname every time your defense strings together two 3-and-outs.

Yeah. That Dolphins defense during the early to mid 70's was the No-Name Defense. So it had a nickname. So. Not the best example, maybe.

And the counter argument is: The Steel Curtain, The Doomsday Defense, and the Purple People Eaters.

Yeah. Nicknames are dumb. Just ask me, I've had the great misfortune of never being called by my real name. It doesn't bug me like it used to but I still wonder why my parents named me one thing and then called me another.

Our goal should be no nickname. When someone says "Ravens defense", I get that feeling of dread. Hopefully, if we have success this year on the national stage, the words "Texans defense" will instill some fear too.
