Coleman has definately been one of the biggest dissapointments for me this year . It seems like everytime we give up a big play , he is part of it somehow someway . :brickwall

watch the greg jones td run. robinson and buchannon both miss tackles (poor form and to high on a power runner). something about coleman caught my eye on the play though.

first...coleman over runs the play left and puts himself in a horrible position to recover if jones cuts back (which he did).

second...arround the time buchannon makes contact with jones coleman slows for just a step in his pursuit...almost to a jog for just a second before he realizes jones breaks free.

to make matters worse cc brown is in pursuit and right behind coleman. coleman's half *** effort inhibits brown's pursuit.

truth of the matter is after over running the play coleman likely wouldnt have stopped the td---especially since a jag wr was there to block.

but to me it dosent matter. you are the safety---NO ONE GETS BEHIND YOU ,and you dont stop until the whistle blows. it says a lot to me about his mentality and the overall mindset of many starting players on our defense.

early on in the game a lot of defenders stayed around the ball---swarming. i found myself encouraged. BUT the second the chips were down they lost heart.

It seems every week we flame a different player for the Texans. This week it's Coleman. Our defense is not that good, I have no idea why the Jags do not pass on us more.

over the course of the season how many standout plays can you think of from a safety?

I thought the play where Wilford jogged into the end zone with his blazing 4.6 speed right in front of Coleman stood out.

I think Coleman is actually smarter than P-Buc, he at least makes it look like he doesn't see the play instead of doing an "-O-lay" at it.

If he is good...a bunch. It is not unheard of for your FS to be #2 in both tackles and Int's for the team as well as the defensive team leader. What do we have?

In addition, the position's importance is increasing rapidly with the offensive evolution of the game which creates mismatches of TE's being covered by LB's etc...

Not to beat a dead horse here, because I do agree Coleman has been trash this year. But, I wonder if any of this can be attributed to the loss of his best friend and mentor AG? I mean the dropoff in his play has been dramatic. I think he saw the direction of the team, and frankly, has just not put out. He got pissed that his best friend was swept out the door in favor of pburnt, and has barely showed up since. That's inexcusable, but that's the way I see it.

Wow, I had not thought of that. I hope that doesn't have anything to do with it because as a Pro it shouldn't and that would really be inexcusable as you say. Maybe it is just that he has reached the point as an athlete where he is physically still ok but not mentally where he needs to be to perform anymore. Whatever the reason, I blame the coaches more at this point for sending him out there than him for the way he is playing...he may just not have anything left in the tank.

Is it working? Perhaps we should flame two players next week. Maybe then we'll see some results!

it has seemed to have worked so far, we have flamed carr and p-burnt, and they have played significantly better after we went at them. Colemen this week. I now second the motion that we flame at least TWO players every week.

my nominations: Colemen and Greenwood

*results of flame test not proven on coaches through first 4 years*

FLAME AWAY BOYS!!
