10 year patch - Houston Texans Message Board & Forum

Can someone please explain to me why the Texans are wearing the 10 year patch on their jerseys this season..This is the 11th season and wearing something to commemorate a 10th season during the 11th season to me makes no sense at all..And before someone says it is 2002-2012, yeah, that still makes no sense.. that is 11 years. I wonder who's brilliant idea that was.. would have been great last season with them making the playoffs.. but this year, that patch makes no sense...

Pretty sure they did it just to get under your skin.

I get it, it is 10 years since they had their 1st game in 2002, but it is the 11th season.. I just think the patch should have been last season to commemorate their 10th full season...

You don't celebrate 1000 yds rushing when you have 950 yds. Until they completed last season they had not been in the league 10 years. Now they have.

I guess you are right, but then should that have read 2002-2011, as that would have been 10 full seasons.

Well, we're getting really technical here, but in that spirit, the 10th season wasn't concluded until 2012 (Jan. 1 if you're talking the regular season, January 15 if you're talking the season in total).

Unless the inception of something is January 1, the first 10 years of something will be completed during 11 calendar years. If your born on 1/2/2002, you complete your 10th year of life on 1/1/2012 (and celebrate your 10th birthday on 1/2/2012).

Pisses me off, too. Everyone tells me I'm a moron, but I can't stop thinking about it, lol. Maybe the FO was alseep at the wheel last year?

You're right. This is the stupidest thing Ive ever seen done. As far as Im concerned, they can all go eat crap and fall off a cliff. I curse the manager who approved that patch and may he be fired and never hired again for any job....ever.

Since were on to damning things, damn Foster for fumbling. Cut him.

Release Schaub for throwing that pick.

Trade Mercilus for over pursuing and missing a tackle.

Phew!

That feels better to release this aggression. I hate them all...especially the guy who approved that damn patch...

I think the important thing that we're all overlooking is where is exactly can we go to get one of these very cool 10 year patches. I think most of us want to commemorate the fact that we've done 10 years time right alongside the team.

Seriously?! LOL! Have you guys ever seen a 25 year, a 40 year, a any year patch that wasn't in line with the amount of years. Do a google image search for "anniversary sports packages". Then kindly lock this thread. Wow and the astros just had an anniversary patch too.

The 10's get too much credit. We should one day celebrate the 16th anniversary of the Texans with a special patch.
